alright so saturday I met up with Dave(Burke0011)at Moroso for a benefit show. I took my two 05s out there and it was my first time ever on the 1/4 mile.
my best time was 15.50 at 89.67mph...i hit the rev limiter in 2nd gear on that pass.
the rest of the times i was spinning the tires until 3rd gear...
heres some pictures:
my 13 year old took the pictures. he did a pretty good job!

then my wife challenged me:
she beat me TWICE!!! first run i missed third gear, second run she just beat me..
she has an auto and i have the stick-shift...
i havent been able to live it down at home yet...my 5 year old son was very dissapointed in his dad...

Congrats on the runs Kev. And it's no biggie that your wifes stang beat you. I look at it this way - you're running against yourself. Don't pay any attention to the other lane - just try and better yourself everytime you go out...
We went to our local track last month but didn't run - but we will. Some day.

funniest thing was as we were staging she stopped to put lipstick on and Tina(Eds wife)was lining her up and giving her instructions etc was laughing and Cher said "my lips are dry"...so after we got back Tina said it was the lipstick

Too funny. I know if my wife ever beat me at a drag race, I'd NEVER live it down. We'd be in the same boat. That's why I will do all in my power to see that such a mach never comes up.I dunno... I might consider running with her in my 05 V6 and me in my 66, but I'd hate to take such a chance. Some act of God would prevent me from making a run and she'd win. No... I can't handle that. LOL! You are a bigger man than I!

It's actually cool that you ran them. That kinda gives folks an idea as to how quick the new 5 speed auto is. If I wasn't driving such a far distance every day, I'd have gotten the manual. It's good to know that the auto is quick enough to whoop it up and earn a little respect. Can't outshift a perfect computer!
I remember the old articles about how the auto cars were out shifting the manuals at the track. It's good to get a story from someone who's done it.

Autos should always run faster than a manal.. theres just no way any real person can shift as fast or efficently. Its just a matter of having the right transmission, shift kit, and possibly stall converter.

Auto trans setup right would win over any conventional manual transmission, but i dont think it would stand a chance against those clutchless transmissions, because there basically is no pause between gears, seen a 69 camaro with one, 4 speed i believe, shifts so fast it sounds like a tricked out automatic.
