Possible solutions include: In the vast majority of cases, simply cleaning the MAF sensor does the trick. Spray it with electronics cleaner or brake cleaner. Make sure you are careful not to damage the MAF sensor, and make sure it's dry before reinstalling Inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses, replace if necessary Check for a dirty fuel filter and proper fuel pressure

basically its lacking fuel or getting to much air. Or mas air flow sensor is dirty.
How many miles are on it and what year is it?

silverstang417 2/9/15 05:05 PM

It has 137xxx 07 4.0

silverstang417 2/9/15 05:55 PM

Now when u start the car it dies unless u give it a lil gas then its fine

almost sounds like a problem I had after cleaning throttle body , MAF sensor testing each injector Wirth battery suringe test & still nothing turned out to be the fuel pump pickup screen was clogged up with all the crap that comes with our gas.
I waited until I got low fuel disconnected fuel relay then removed my fuel pump cleaned it up & walk a runs sweet even gained better miles or here about 100 kilometers per tank.

and just this June July 2014 I flushed my fuel tank out yet as you can see how much came back , in with cleaning the throttle body I got an oil seperator and that alone was a huge help in keeping oil out of the intake.

I think oil separators are a must-have and are easy to install. I have a Moroso unit on my car.

silverstang417 2/10/15 09:03 AM

How much do those oil separators usually run

I don't think an oil separate will fix your issue.

:agree: But keep in mind it is an error code. It does not mean that it is really running lean Meaning a O2 Sensor could be off or another sensor giving the computer an incorrect reading indicating it is running lean. I have seen this many times and give an error of Bank# lean. Have you connected a analyzer and looked at the live data?

SpectreH 2/10/15 12:08 PM

I seem to recall $80...give or take. It and the hood struts were my first mod.

silverstang417 2/10/15 07:35 PM

Come to find out that it was an 02 sensor that went out on me

I was thinking that but usually you don't read that unless exhaust work was done. But then again, 137k...

Jazzman442 2/10/15 08:53 PM

CD I have seen one bad tank of gas take out an O2 Sensor. Wasn't the First Trackey blowing them out too? Also I think I have read that putting on a CAI with out the reducer will give the same code. Computers Go to Love Them!!

Interesting. I hadn't seen those posts.

I just read an article on top fuel and was surprised they didn't use O2's on the headers, but rather an 'exhaust gas temperature' sensor. If its not burning hot and equal, they know something is off.

silverstang417 2/11/15 09:04 AM

I was just told that the 87 octane tune I put on my car plus my true duel exhaust may have caused my 02 sensor to go out

silverstang417 2/11/15 09:05 AM

Plus I just had another code go off it was a p0300 which said random misfire

Jazzman442 2/11/15 11:08 AM

Was is there any Mods? Was anything tuned up? Picture of the engine bay?

silverstang417 2/11/15 11:43 AM

All I've done I put a cold air intake on it

Glenn 2/11/15 12:14 PM

Which cold air intake did you install? I'll bet its one that needs a tune. That would make sense more air but no adjustment for more fuel to match
