So are there any 2005 and up mustangs out there with dual Flowmaster American Thunders that have problems going over speed bumps and scratching and bumping your mufflers when going over speed bumps? Reason I ask is because I went to my performnce shop and he suggested not to go with Flowmaster A/T because: 1) the mufflers are big and when you go over speed bumps it will mess up (scratch) the mufflers. They hang too low. 2) The Flowmaster A/T are louder but also higher pitched. He suggested to go with Magnaflow. He said Magnaflows are a little quieter but also deeper than the Flowmasters. Anybody have any input on this??? He said hes put more X pipes on the V6's but I told him I wanted a H pipe because of all the input I've received and everyone on the forums are telling me to definitely go with the H pipe rather than the X pipe.

My car is lowered 1.5" w/FRPP springs and I have Flowmaster axle-backs. I've never scraped them on anything.

If I did, then I would think I'd have bigger problems than a couple of scratched up mufflers...

I hope this isn't an issue since I just ordered a set and finished my Roush springs install yesterday (which is much lower in front than I planned).

Your installers full of S!!!! and just trying to sell you on something he has sitting around. I've never heard of anything like that with any aftermarket muffler for the S-197

I've been driving with the Flowmasters on my GT for 2 years now and, even though there are more speed bumps in this country than anywhere alse in the world (including Mars, I bet!), I've NEVER scratched them. Your guy doesn't seem too knowledgeable when it comes to the sound, either: the Flows are louder and deeper than stock.

I agree, your installer is full of crap. dont listen to him. My car is lowered 1.5" in the front and rear, and i have a 4" inch rolled exhaust tip and it hast hit any speed bumps, The flowmasters have a 3.5" tip.

The installer MIGHT be thinking of the '04 and previous 'stang where the mufflers were forward of the axle. On the S197, I don't see this being an issue

I have had the black flowmaster american thunders on my a/t v6 and have not had any issues with that at all...it does not even come close. Maybe if you have your car lowered that is a different story, but definitely no issue stock.
