Drone all gone
Drone all gone
Ok so here’s the story. I installed the duals last year and had a slight drone vibration. Figured oh well it is what it is. Then I installed the x-chargers and we blow the driveshaft. So I take the car to the muffler shop that installed my stuff and he fixed the smacked pipe. One thing I noticed is that it now scraped a little more than tit did before on speed bumps. Figured it was do to the pipe getting hit/pushed down. Well I asked the muffler guy about it and he said not much to do. So today I go to my buds (he’s the mechanic at a ford dealer) we put it on the alignment rack so all the tires are at rest and the car is level. I show him that the front hangers at the tranny mount are pretty stretched out. So we slide the high jack under my x-pipe and I proceed to spin it up pushing the pipes up under the car. Success pipes are up and I even clear the speed bumps that I couldn’t before. Great thank and I’m on my way. Funny things now when I sit at a lite the drone is worse then I remember seeing a new TSB about a vibration from the console. Pull it up and the fix it 2 3” hose clamps around the bushings! so I call my but he said bring it in tomorrow and he will fix it. Well I can’t wait so I go to kragen 2-pack 3 bucks driveway floor jack 10 minutes I’m done and no more drone. Pretty cool. Most of you could go get this at the dealer but remember I now have duals and the x-charger. So I didn’t want to put my bud on the spot plus I wanted it done now! Thought I would share.
oh yea heres the TSB

afixer,
This was one of the most rambling posts I have seen in a LONG time!!! But THANKS!!! That TSB link was just what I needed!
I'm one of those with the rattle from the console at certain rpms. It had bugged me, but not enough to see if there was a TSB on it (I figured there would be plenty of talk about this problem on the boards if there was a TSB).
I guess I have another project this weekend...

Whoop!
Way to go, afixer. I have what I call the "radio/console" rattle when the car is in drive, foot on the break, sitting still in the garage.
I was sure it was the fault of the dual exhaust and that I'd have to live with it forever. Guess I now have some idea on how to quiet it!!
Thanks a bunch for the info!

well the tsb is pretty clear. just follow the directions. get 2 3" stainless clamps and install them around the rubber isolators and the tranny mount. or just take it to the dealer. its a tsb they will fix it.
