Can you improve a cai' performance

Ok i have an airair cai. I have a bama tune. Runs beautiful.

Now i'm monitoring my intake temp in real time with an obd2 reader to iphone.

Temp runs about 130 degrees in the intake. Is there a way to make this run cooler? Aside from punching a hole in the side of the car of course. Thanks!

Robfather,

First off I'm glad you're happy with the way the car is running now. There's always little tricks to get cooler air to the intake for sure, but Airaid does a pretty good job for the most part.

One common thing is to run some weather piping from inside the fender or low on the front bumper and guide the air to the filter. I haven't particularly seen this on 4.0L Stangs, but it's common in the street performance world. You could at least try this idea and make your own kit if you wanted to. Just make sure the mouth to the piping is wide and has some sort of guides for the air.

This is just an idea, thought it might be helpful!

thank you for the slick ideas. i've got my eye on a wide mouthed intake that with a bit of piping i can grab right into the cai.

and a/m is the only place to buy mustang parts from. the customer service is ludicrously helpful. the packaging astounding. the speed of ship is crazy fast. then tech support as required is incredibly detailed, helpful and patient. thanks so much!

Seems awfully warm to me. I guess my intercooler works better than I expected. The only time my IAT gets to 130° is when I'm deep into boost then it drops right back down to the 100-110° range or below. You could try wrapping the CAI tube with some heat barrier tape like is used on headers and wiring to see it that helps. The tube runs close to the radiator and is probably picking up some heat from it.
