I cannot find the belt it needs online, I found a few....with the same part number, but they are listed for chevy's, unless the belt is universal.

Doug,

How much are you going to charge with the belt included?

Thanks.
yeah, i kind of noticed the same thing about the belt... I'm hoping that the oversized alternator pulley will offset the crank pulley enough that the stock belt will work.. LOL

belts are universal. The part numbers change just to show how many ribs, and the length. So even if it says its for a chevy, its the one you want for your car.

Your addiction is so bad, you are buying it and hoping it will "work"! I'm impressed.

I did not see a price on that page. The guide states that the belt is for a 350 Vette, jeje K060860.

Don sent me the size of the new pulley... I haven't gone out and measured the stock one yet... or measured the alternator pulleys... Worst case scenario I go back to stock alternator pulley and get the new belt... Probably won't get around to get it on until the week after Christmas...

The belt you'll need will be a 6-rib belt but I dont know the length.

I'm trying to offer it as a package with the belt and possibly puller for $299.

Thanks, Doug.

I know it costs alot to R&D a part to get it to market. Nearly $300 for an UDP is plain nuts. this is one mod I can skip.

Burnt... it does sound spendy, eh? Takes cash to be the first on the block. I'm sure they'll come down in price sooner or later, especially after there's a few more manufacturer's offering pulleys.

Exactly why I bought a V6. I couldnt find a GT for 1 cent under 33K.

The local Ford dealer still cant get GTs now. If they do get one, it sells the day it arrives. They have resorted to dressing up the V6s and adding 3-5K on the sticker. those arent selling, they have 8 06 V6s on the lot, 4 verts, 4 coupes.

Ford is killing us on the GTs.

The problem is on the V6 it's not just a simple pulley, it's also the harmonic balancer...

Also the big bold letters on the graph say 12HP gain and 16ft/lbs... but if you look at the graph it actually looks like they have it switched. the graph actually shows 16RWHP gain at peak (172 -> 188) and 12ft/lbs (188 -> 200)... Now of course I'll believe those gains when I see it! LOL!

So conservatively if you get an 8 to 10 RWHP for about $300.. that's not too bad...

time will tell... LOL

Yes, please let us know how this one pans out. You are right, 8-10 RWHP is not bad at all for $300. Look at how much money some of us spend on exhaust for the same amout of HP, but sometimes 1-200 more.

Yeah! That would be great! Thanks!!

I'm very interested in pulleys, especially if Doug puts together a complete kit... but, I think a t-lok and possibly gears are going to come first... I don't mind bein' a step behind ha!

Please let me know, I don't plan on making any money off the belt as the best price I can find is $22 but maybe I can save a few $ getting them from Ford, or you if you sell them.

As soon as mine make it in I will have them on the dyno and the belt length along with pulley puller and bolt sizes done.

One thing I've found in my years of 4.0 exp. is that the harmonic balancer on a 4.0 requires longer bolts that are in the normal puller sets along with being metric. Also sometimes I would have problems with the puller shaft bottoming out and having to use a spacer of sorts. I want to offer a puller with the right length bolts and the right shaft setup to make it a 15 minute installation.

Thanks, Doug.

Both Gates and Motorcraft use Similar Numbering systems.

Gates
k=Serpentine belt
0 Number of grooves =0 Under 10 Grooves
6 Number of grooves =6
0 Number of inches =0 Under 100 Inches
8 Number of inches = 80
6 Number of inches= 6
0 Number of tenths=0
Gates
k060860 = 6 groove Belt 86 inches long.
Motorcraft
Jk6-861-aa =6 groove Belt 86 1/10 inches long.

The Closest Motorcraft belt is 1/10 of an inch Longer. I do not believe this would be an Issue.

Pretty Cool Numbering System Eh!

Very cool info!

I just looked up the replacement belts for a stock setup on www.advanceautoparts.com. The belt it brings up is 87 inches... So how much slack will the tensioner take up? Looks like at least almost an inch...

I also just went out side to do a quick look at the pulleys and measure them to see if I can figure out my belt situation... LOL! (these are rough numbers)

Here goes.. The following measurements are for the diameter.

Stock Alternator Pulley - 2.25 inches - Circum = 7 inches
New Alt. Pulley - 3.75 inches - Circum = 11.75
diff = +4.75

Stock Crank Pulley - 6 inches - Circum = 18.85
New Crank Pulley - 4.5 inches. - Circum - 14.14
diff = -4.71

Now I know this is'nt scientific... but should get me in the ballpark! LOL!

SOOOOO... it looks like if I'm able keep the new alternator pulley on (we'll be watching it very closely!) I should be able to re-use the stock belt! Question will be just how slow can you spin the alternator??? LOL!

Weather permitting the install is set for next Thursday!
