Another new axle back...

Ok... as some of you know, last fall we took the cats out... Made a great improvement in performance but.... the sound at 3000 to 4000 was absolutely HORRID!! This was with the MRT Aero-Turbine... Startup, idle and cruising we GREAT!... But hit 3000 RPMs and is was the worst sound you could imagine!

We tried a couple of resonators... helped a bit but was still nasty sounding at 3K... sooooo for the winter I put my stock V6 muffler back on... got rid of the nasty noise but it was like putting a corking in the tail pipe!! This spring we put a GT take-off on... not bad sounding... pretty quiet... but at 3K you could still detect a bit of that nasty buzz!

Well... this last weekend I went down to MRT... MRT has got a new muffler and Scott wanted me to try it out!!! I was happy to give it a try!

So we bolted on the new axle back... Started up the car.. WOW!! Sounded great! Idle... great! Cruising at 2000... WOW! Then the test... step on the gas and go to 3K... WOW!!! No buzz!!! I was absolutely SHOCKED!! I never would guessed that the muffler could have eliminated the buzz!! But it was gone!!

We then decided to see what would happen if we took off the resonator!!! WOOHOO!! The start up and idle were amazing!!! So for grins we decided to leave it that way for while and see how I like it... hmmm... driving home I pulling up to a light and this guys yells over "Is that a custom exhaust?" I said "Yes. What do you think?" He give me a BIG GRIN and says "that's awesome!" and give me a big thumbs up! Ok... i guess he liked it! LOL!

Now with out the resonator, 3000 RPM to 4000 RPM is a bit harsh... but not anywhere like it was with the Aero-Turbine! I can live with this! Worst case I know if we put the resonator back on the buzz will be gone!

I hate to say it.. but i love the looks of the shorter tip (the aero-turbine had a tip for a GT, so it was longer!) ... and the sound... I'm thinking I just might have to cross over and go to duals!!!! LOL!

Ok.. a couple of pics and a short viddy...
