Have you guys seen this? I ran across it on ebay. You can see a gap at the bottom of the grille. Is that what people are talking about when they say the gt grille wont completely match up to the v6.

That gap is not easy on the eyes, especially when you know it's there.

hmmm, it must be a pretty big gap upclose, considering it can be seen in the picture.

Yep. That's why, in my opinion, the conversion done by Jimzoy and Mr. Wick is the only way to go. I like the foglights to be slightly smaller than the headlights anyway.

I'm guessing that the wiring harness already has provisions for the foglights? Does anyone know this?

If it does... I think I would consider adding some flare to the fogs on a V6 by doing something a little like this:

http://mustangandfords.com/featuredvehicle...image_large.jpg

It's what they were going for when they did the fogs on the GT - Mock up of the 67/68 GT mustangs. I would imagine that it would be easy to wire up those lights into a factory pigtail, drill 2 holes into the plastic of the grille, mount them, and plug them right in. I also think the chrome would be a decent and much needed touch to the front of that car.

That's just me. But then again... everyone has seen me reference classic mustang parts as perfect additions to the 05. Can't go wrong with adding classic parts to a retro car IMO

EDIT:
A nice exploded view of the classic housing (hope the link works):

The dealership i spoke to about installing foglights said the v6 wiring harness does not have wires for the foglights. They are installing them for a customer already, for $800 (eek) which includes making their own wiring harness, installing a new headlight switch, and installing the new grill and foglights. He also said that ford will soon be coming out with the "parts" not a kit (sold seperately) soon for people that want to do it themselves, and he said it would run between 550 and 600 for all the parts and the labor (dealership $$$labor$$$ to boot)

Hokey Smoke!

Mr. Wick told me the local dealer here in Orlando would have charged him $300 to wire up his lights.

The remote switch he hooked up instead cost something like $35 and works perfectly.

oh BTW, that gap can be eliminated if u get a GT only bodykit. i thin that would work. i was looking at the Xenon kit in my Cal mustang catalog n it said "will fit V6 but would require the GT grille".

so if u get a GT front fascia or a GT only bodykit for the front, the gap should be fine, i would think...
it sounds right in theory, but theres only one way to know...

I can't find it any more but on ebay for $69 there was a grill had the import style aluminum background stuff and you chose between the stock no fog lights and w/ fog light housing and it fit the V6 shell. I was seriously considering it but i deleted it by accident and can't find it. Lights that fit the housing that are cheap are Wagner 4509 and they are about $8 a piece. They are 13volt aviation highpower straightline beam lights but will work. Some guy on cardomain did it with his silver V6. He used a stock GT grill with these lights and it looks good!

If you had a straight on look from the front and just a little lower you would also see the the point at the center of the grill sticks out past the small ridge that runs across the V6 bumper right where the grill and bumper. The ridge lines up fairly well from the edges in toward the center but after that it doesn't look good.I still think the way to go is stay with the V6 grill and do the lights, you know the V6 grill fits.

I htink this guy may have the GT bumber. HE said GT replica maybe he had the stealership do it notice no front license plate! That hints to the bumper being replaced.

I don't think so. Notice in his front view picture there is an obvious indentation for a front plate, whereas a real GT doesn't have the indent. Many states (such as here in Florida) don't require a front plate.
