My AEM Brute Force CAI showed up this afternoon, and I have to say I'm pretty pleased with the purchase. Installation was a snap (maybe a 1/2 hour) it looks great, and there's a noticable performance boost (I'm not even going to guess, as unlike many other folks online, my butt dyno has no calibration certificate )

No check engine light, and I chirped the tires in second gear without meaning to (that hasn't happened before) and I keep finding myself having to upshift quicker than I'm used to

Here's some shots (I know Cam07 already posted some good ones, but these are outside without a flash and I think give a better feel for what the setup actually looks like)

Also, before some wise guy notes the loose bolt on the radiator shroud, the kit came with an extra, I didn't forget one

Boy, and I really did want to comment about the bolt!
Oh well; too late now.
The installation looks great!

No tune yet, and no problems, but I would like to see what a tune could do once I have enough dough.

As for the prop rod, yeah, it's still there. I'm undecided about taking it off or not, as I had it off for a bit and didn't like the look of the empty storage clips.

I should also add that for a shade over $200 the quality on this kit is really nice. The fender shroud is stainless (under theblack powdercoat), and there are nice little touches like "AEM" logo hose clamps, and a plate frame for those so inclined in the box. Inexpensive but not cheap if you know what I mean.

One more pic:

I made a slight modification to the mounting point for the filter end on the tube since the first pictures. I noticed the top of the pipe was just brushing the hood lining a few inches after the big bend, so I wanted to angle the pipe downwards a bit more for clearence). No big deal as the filter end of the pipe has a support that bolts to a rubber isolator on the filter shroud. I just undid the isolator from the shroud and drilled a new hole for it 1" lower.

I have an aem CAI in my honda and it's great. I didn't know they already had one for the V6, and the price is about the same for most makes....

Nice pics!

It's definatly a nice looking kit. Where do you live? I would love to get you on a dyno to see what kinda numbers you're making from that kit and along with my tuning.

Just let me know, Doug.

Me? Boston. One of your tunes was the way I'm leaning anyway though. You've got a great rep, and I haven't come across anyone disatisfied with your tunes.

Thanks for letting us know about the AEM. The shop I go to will get it and install it for me when I save up some cash, and I wanted a first hand account of it. Any report on improvements in feeling, mileage, sound, etc. would be much appreciated.

Feel:Overall, much better acceleration. Enough to put a grin on one's face.

Sound: I can hear the intake drawing air sometimes (not objectionable at all) and the exhaust note has changed. It's hard to describe exactly how though. More even maybe?

Mileage: Went on a trip today. According to the dash computer highway mileage appears to have gone up a bit (maybe 2 mpg) though overall mileage is down 'cause I'm having too much fun to keep my foot out of it off the line at lights.

Sweet. I drive my poor 'stang a LOT, so any increase in mileage is good, as far as I'm concerned.

I just sent a couple messages back and forth with Doug. He's working on getting an AEM V6 tune done, but could use a local car with one installed for testing. Maybe someone in Doug's neck o' the woods has one and would care to volunteer?
