Has anybody upgraded their tires to 255/55/17 on stock rim? I am lowering my car and worried about ground clearance...

Also, is there any handling performance drawbacks from using higher profile tires?

thanks!!

I have 255/50/17.. 55 is alittle too high for my taste.. But they will most likely look good..

The advantage to a 55 series tire over a 50 series is of course Launch capabilities... You can let out alittle more air, and launch from a higher RPM.. So at the track, you will have the advantage..

I have Pirelli P235/55/17 on mine, but that is on a 17 inch GT take off rim. I am not sure how it would work with a 16inch stock V6 rim.

LOL! That would be a problem! According to his sig, he's got 17" Cobra Bullit wheels.

darn, I didn't check his sig, when he said stock rims I assumed 16 inch V6 rims. Need to pay more attention. :bang:

yeah...sorry bout that...

i have upgraded 17 bullitts... I am debating on upgrading to 18s or stay with 17s and up the tire profile... I also changing gears to 3.73 so im trying to go for bigger size...

but when the time comes for windy roads, i would like the car to handle well...

Lower profile tires will handle better.

The Pony package for the V6 comes from the factory with 235/55/17 Pirelli P Zero Nero's on 17-inch Bullet rims.

When I had my V6, I had 255/50 17 nitto nt450 on my GT wheels. I liked em, but if I had the chance to rebuy those I might have gone a lil bit lower of a profile. Just my 2 cents..
