Also, you never heard any of us suggest that you should get the 4.10 gear.. You did that on your own by not runing the numbers.. Even Jimp wants 3.73's.. You blindley bought into the 4.10 basket as if it was at the flee market now your stuck with it.. Deal with it while we float by you laughing in the last 1/8th of the race..

My 4.0 is holding up... I've got the automatic tranny, not the T-5, still have the 7.5. but have added 4.10s and a Trac-Lock... 100HP shot of N20... 30 passes at the track and a dozen dyno pulls... This car is my daily driver and gets driven pretty hard every day (although I save the spray for the track... on the street it would be toooooo crazy!) The car has 20,000 miles on it and I started modding it Day 1! So far everything has held together! Including that "worthless 7.5 inch " rear end...

While you write a nice technical article, I think your conclusion that the 4.0L Mustang will fly apart if I simply add a high performance CAI or exhaust certainly doesn apply my car... (and the other guys I know with the Zex N20 kit...)

Yeah so why are you taking out your frustrations on me? Just because my sane suggestion of running the motor up to 5300rpm is safer than running it @ 5900rpm with 350 to 400RWHP? You started in on me because I suggested the 3.73 over the 4.10, which I stand behind..

I'm not frustated at all.... I'm not taking anything out on you.... I'm simply pointing out that you are not making suggestions... YOU ARE MAKING CLAIMS... there is a big difference... You say things like:

That is not a suggestion, that is a claim. You claim that we are "contained for reliability reasons"... I'm simply asking you to back that up. Show me one 05 V6 that has had issues with their chains? I know of none... so how in the world do you know that we are "contained"??? You made some other similar statements..

I would have no problem if you had said something like "You know based on the design of the 4.0L we should consider running are cars at a lower RPM... " Do you see the difference?

 

As Hambone say, "take it to the track"... My car runs a 13.4... with video to prove it... My 4.10s have been down the track 25 times... and have seen 8,000 miles... your parts seem to be sitting on the shelf....

 

I look at it this way, we all colaborate, but none of us have taken the exact same approach to get to the fastest 1/4 mile time. Mike has given us some good info, but the bottom line is we are all in new territory here with these 4.0's.

Scrming is one of th pioneers to push the V6 to the 13's, outside of him who else has done it except for powerhouse, and maybe a few in mags that don't post.

What I want to see is the difference in numbers when more of us are running 100 or 125 HP shots of N2O, with various setups. This includes tuners, sway bars, contral arms, springs, CAI's, gears, diffs, etc.

Lets see what our 1/4 times look like. Someone in a thread said a 600HP supra still ran the same 1/4 mile time as a GT (so HP isn't everything), so lets all try our different approach's and see where it leads us.

I'm going with 3.75's, but in 12 months, if I find I need to go to 4.10s, or a lower stock gear to reach my goal..then so be it, I will do it with pride...cause I love this stuff. What's important here is that we are not all taking the same approach, which provides a great amount of data to review so others can benefit.

exactly... I try to write a little blurb about all my new mods and keep my website up to date with the latest info... Including a pretty detailed section on installing the Zex... so hopefully others can find the info useful...

The 3.73 should be a good choice... What people forget is i'm running a larger than stock tire... so my 4.10 is not the same as running 4.10s with stock size tires... My goal was never to be a terror on the 1/4 mile... I do love the way the 4.10s pull me off the stop light... LOL! I don't spray on the street so having the 4.10s for driving around town is a blast...

 

Absolutely, in fact, your posts almost had me on the 4.10s. Problem was I don't have larger tires on the back, I spend a lot of time on I66 and I95 (highway driving) into DC, and on top of that, my boss from London calls me all the time while I'm in my car. I'm pretty sure 4.10's with my already loud maganflows would have been insanely loud.

I may still put bigger tires on the back to get the RPM's down. I still like to have conversations in my car and what no.

And I have to admin, the idea of having 4.10s and spinning my tires sounded so darn cool, what a mustang should do. LOL. I'm just hoping that my 3.75's will pull it off.

 

And dude, I found a post in a 3.8 forum about your web site. They refered to you as here is a link to a tricked out 6. You should be proud.

 

Yeah, the 4.10s, with stock sized tires and the magaflow would get kind of annoying at 75 to 80 MPH... LOL! Right now at 80 i'm at about 2800RPM... with a single magnaflow... so it's not bad... but I sure wouldn't want it much higher for a long trip... LOL! You stick with 27 inch tires and the 3.73s will be just dandy! LOL! I'm guessing my gears probably would be in the 3.90 to 4.00 range with my tires...

 

That's very cool! LOL! I got a PM from a guy who said he used my Burnout Video in a presentation for school! LOL! One of those GT basher guys told me the other day that "a car that almost runs 12 is nothing to be proud of"... I told him the truth... I was proud of my car before the ink was dry on the paper work! LOL!

I'll drive my car, and Lidio will drive yours! 3.73's vs. 4.10's.. Windveil Blue, vs. Scrming Yellow.. You should have never challenged me.. I was saving all my frustrations for a GT.. But now you shall suffer the first beat down from me when its time.. Better get lidio ready, and increase the shot to no less than 150shot, because when I come with the video, a 13.4 wont be enough..

 

When this happens let me know...it will be time for me to go on a road trip just so I can see this. And trust me, I will if you tell me when and where!

And when the two of you are done, I'll put my wifes Xterra on the track and smoke both of you. I put a turbonator in her ride...it'll smoke anything! LOL.

 

LOL!! I never thought I would see the day when the first 4.0 rivalry was born, but I guess it was un-avoidable.. It was bound to happen.. Hopefully we will still be friends when the dust settles.. The only disadvantage I can see thus far is Scrming is shooting for Low 13's, low 12's.. I have already made it clear I am shooting for 11's.. My entire effort in setting up my car is based around 11.xx ET's.. Seems alittle unfair that I will have to make an example out of him.. I sure would have rather used a Obnoxious GT owner.. But this is the path he has chosen, and since I do think he is a pretty good guy, and must comply with his wishes.. I just hope everything will still be kool afterwards..

To set the record straight... I've gone 13.7 in my car... Lidio ran the 13.4 after we put in the new LCAs.... The track was incredibly slick... it was getting better and Lidio turned the 13.4. As he was pulling into the pits it started to rain, so I didn't get a chance for another run... so who knows what I could have done on the that track... While Lidio is a better driver, the main reason I ask him to drive is because he's a lot lighter than I am... I am morbidly obese... maybe I can figure out how to get in shape for next year... but for now I'm perfectly happy and proud to say that my car (not me) can got 13.4.... Kind of like any race team... the owner isn't always the driver...

 

Ok you win Scrming.. Lets just drop it and move on! With no hard feelings.. we still have alot of development to get done.. We must stick together on this.. Its us against them, not us against us.. Well just for one race. But remember the underlying goal is to defeat GT's at a minimum.. Anything else after that is gravy..
