Who knows, maybe he was driving on a gravel road.
I have the JLT/SCT combo and there is no way I could chirp third at 85.

OKAY, I will buy in on the gravel road theory.
I chirp 3rd with an auto tranny 90+% of the time. But, that's with 4.10s (and at 55mph). With stock rear gears, you can barely get to 70mph in 2nd gear.
Regardless of the chirp or not it's true you can make some real good power with the JLT/XCal2 combo. I have the JLT CAI and a custom SCT tune. My only other mods are Bassani cats, x-pipe and axle back and I made 299 rwhp / 323 rwtq. Here is my thread with dyno videos and graphs:

Anyone is more than welcome to come drive with me. I work 3rd shift and took a guy out for lunch and showed him the same thing while entering the dallas toll road from frankfurt. I just went out again and couldn't break 'em loose but definetly made it to just above 80 in 2nd at around 6250ish rpm. Call BS all you want, but the fact still remains that this combo makes a heck of alotta power!! I'm trying to talk my wife into letting me go dyno it right now.
Oh and by the way, 3rd made it just past 100 mph before I shifted to 4th.
And I didn't mean to be rude. . thank you 06TUNGVERTGT!!
I will concede that the Dallas Toll Road is under some construction going north bound, so it may be a little slicker than normal.
But either way chirping 3rd is way too much fun!

I agree... barking 3rd gear is a lot of fun... no matter what speed it is done at.
And a CAI with a good tune definitely increases the fun factor with these cars. No doubt there!! Congrats!
p.s. the attached chart shows the relationship between the rpm and speed (depending on tire size, gear ratio and tranny type). These are maximums... other variables will bring the numbers down (especially at high speeds).

Cool, so he shifted into third at around 7250rpm!
I may be reading the chart incorrectly, but it looks like 3rd is good to 108 mph at 6250 rpm, which is pretty close to what I said I thought I was doing since I thought I shifted just past 100 mph into 4th at 6250. Manual trans.
Is that correct Don?
I'm too young to be going crazy now, and I haven't even had to start hiding parts at work. . . yet. :clown:
EDIT:. . . . .I must be going crazy. . . I see what your saying about shifting from 2nd at 7250. . . I must be too excited when I shift into third that I don't look down till just after I do it. Cause by Don's chart, it is impossible to shift at that high of a speed from 2nd.
As soon as my excitment subsides I will pay more attention. <--- maybe next year!

I use the mods in my sig. and I managed to break the wheels loose in third. I thought I had broken something because I saw something blink on the cluster...didnt occur to me until later it was the traction control.

DallasStang,
I wasn't trying to be rude by saying it was
that you broke the tires loose when you hit 3rd gear it was what RPM that you would have had to be running at to do what you claimed. Your new found power is definitely exciting, as alot of us have discovered. Welcome to the forum. P. S. If you want a real wetdream experience get a twinscrew supercharger like Don W. You'll be barking 4th at 110 mph. Scott

I can chirp into 3rd at high RPMs but no way you can get to 85mph in second, third gear tops out at 85
