I just had a new tranny installed also under warranty at the beggining of November. Then 700 miles later they had to pull it back out because 3rd was grinding and replace 3rd gear and sychronizers. Even with that done it still sometimes grinds and notchy going into 3rd.

Really? That's scary to think they can't fix this thing no matter what. I'm definitely not taking it in now..

What in the world is going on with these transmissions for this specific year?! This seems ridiculous. Did they change something with the internals for 2008 or something? I just don't get it.

same story here on the crunch

My new 2008 crunched on 2-3 right out the door. Syncs were replaced to no avail. Dealer installed a Hurst, also not a cure. I drove another 2008...same thing happened. However, the mechanic could not replicate, and stated that I shift "very fast". When I shift slowly, or when the car is warm, there is no crunch. I have never had this problem on any other 3, 4, 5, or 6 speed that I have owned. This forum is gratifying inasmuch as I now know it's not just my problem. But what can we do about it? I am learning to shift more slowly when cold, but the length of time to warm the transmission changes with the ambient temperature. When real cold, I also get a 3-4 crunch. And I live in Nashville. It must be a hell of a problem in Frostbite Falls.
