sounds interesting

anyone with a more technical background..... would this setup be safer for an engine? or just produce more efficient power?

not safer but definitely more efficient. Who wants "safer", its forced induction, ya aint going to get more safe in terms of that cause boost is boost.

That looks pretty awesome, dual-boost, AND it looks like it will fit under the stock hood WITH an STB!!!

So what is the advantage? How is this better than a twin screw?

It provides the low end power that a twin screw has the advantage of, and provides the superior high end power of a centrifugal.

Basically, if it works it's pretty awsome.

I'm seeing this S/C spamming the net, but no hp ratings or pricing anywhere.

LOL!! Bravo DannyBoy! Bravo!

I agree with you on this.. Boost is boost.. However, something about boost being made lower in the powerband creates more power...

Move the boost back in the powerband, and you gain 26 to 30RWHP per 500 to 1000 RPM it has been moved back.. So what does this mean? This means that if this particular setup is successfull and works as promised, then threatens the very foundation of boost..

An amazing and well thought out centrifugal..

Ok, from what I gather, when the Supercharger senses the engine spinning less RPM's it automatically downshifts gears inside the supercharger allowing the impeller to spin faster with a lower engine rpm speed.. Once the engine reaches a certain threshold, the supercharger upshifts and adjust to an impeller range which allows the supercharger to maintain a certain level of boost while the engine speeds up!

OH Dear GOD this is an ingenius idea! Oh man! This is going to be nuts... I sure hope Steve is looking at this and plotting the next move..LOL!!

The next couple questions.

1) When will they be available

2) How reliable will they be

3) How much

4) Who will be the first on TMS to get one

I like this. I may have to rethink my position of not adding such devices to my car..

Interesting. I wonder if it is seamless when it switches. I dislike more moving parts though, in general. Porsche is taking a different approach - they're working on an impeller (for their turbos) that changes pitch to achieve a broader powerband.
