WMS Air-Intake Installed
WMS Air-Intake Installed
Finally finished the install of my WMS Intake system. Came out really nice and not difficult at all to install. Ran the car to see if any codes would show there ugly faces. Seems to run great and no codes. Next step is to get a program from BAMA for the WMS system. Should draw some serious air now that the upper grill honeycombs have been removed. Still need to get some weatherstrip to go around the radiator cover to give it a tight fit to the hood. Can't wait to get her out to see how she runs.
I'll be interested in hearing what you think about the WMS as far as how it effects the performance. I think it looks great, but I'm having a hard time deciding between it and the C&L Street.
You going to do a before and after with the BAMA tunes? Let us know your results if you do...

I am looking at the WMS unit to replace my AFE CAI. The fact that the WMS kit is a straight shot right into the throttle body without that stupid 90 degree bend combined with the fact that it draws air from outside the engine bay just makes it superiour to CAI kits that are built otherwise.
Pictures of before and after shots with the WMS system. Main reason I went to the WMs is the way it takes in the air flow. I improved onthat by taking out all the honeycombs in the upper grill. That should increase airflow to the system through the 3 access holes in the radiator cover. Can't wait for spring to get her on the road.
You'll like the WMS - Ram Air is the only way to go.
You really cant evaluate the performance of the WMS on a Dyno unless you can get the cooling fan to put out a 50 or 100 mph wind to the front of the car.

You'll love it. I miss my WMS w/ram. Had to remove it when the Vortech went in. Knowing what I know now, I probably would've went with a KB instead so I could've kept the WMS.
He does SCT and has a big fan.

C'mon up.

I also heard a rumor that Shannon at WMS may have the stripping.
The color to match pre filters come from Outerware they are $24.
The oil breather comes from either Summit or Jegs..........cant remember
I plugged the hole on the WMS intake silicone tube. The Strut Tower Brace comes from: Blue Oval and clears the plenum very well. A good piece and I would buy it again. (not shown but similar to the GMS shown)
All of the chrome nut covers, something like 30 or 40 come from Auto Zone size 10mm.
I prefer the straight shot of air into the intake over other CAI methods.

As you can be seen real well from your picture is the two 1-1/2" x 7" slots in the hood. These slots are directly above the fog lamps.
Next week my local body shop is removing the fog lamps and relocating a new set of fog lamps to each side of the lower grille. (where they will actually function as fog lamps).
The area of the old fog lamps will have a black wire mesh screen epoxied on the back of the openings. These will be used as additional air intakes for the ram hood.
Since the ram hood is sealed against the hood, with this mod I am hoping to increase the pressure in the ram hood area when the car is moving.
All filters exhibit what is call a differential pressure drop across them. I dont know what the "Delta P" is across the WMS filter but would guess that it may be close to .20"wg. (due to construction of the filter)
By increasing the air pressure in the ram hood area I hope to offset the pressure drop across the filter by some number. (all of this with the car moving)
I havent had a chance yet to hook up a manometer to the suction opening in the WMS silicone tube. (was where the other valve cover hose went to).
After the mod I will place a Magnehelic gauge inside the car and run a hose out to the WMS silicone tube so that I can see the effect the mod has had when the car is moving at hi-speed. (50 - 70mph
There will have to be a test ran before the mod and then a test ran after the mod for any good data to be recorded.
Just trying to help my n/a work car run as well as it can.
Thanks GT John,
Can't wait to see what the modded front end of your car looks like....sounds interesting.
Do any of the aftermarket hoods, like the Cali Dream hood, line up at all with the Ram Air Tray? Looks to me that the hoods that do have openings are all too far back?
