Will Borla Stingers be too Much for a Daily Driver? I'd like to see/hear cruising.

I've read everything from mind numbing and head splitting to not that bad when it comes to the drone of these mufflers.

I've looked but haven't found an in-car video or sound clip of these things cruising on the highway. If anyone could provide one, I'd be thankful.

I'd also like to hear as many opinions as I can. A lot of people don't daily drive their mustangs and I'd especially like to hear from those that do.

It is pretty much between these, JBA SS, or the Bassani Oval SS non-race.

I have the FRPP Stingers along with JBA LT's and a catted(gutted) h-pipe. My car is a daily driver and I am fine with it. Is there drone? Yes. I can live with that, personally I love the sound. It usually is very drone-y around 2K RPMS roughly 60-65mph.

To be honest with you the droning was a bit bad at first with the stock 3.55 gears.... but after a couple of months the mufflers wore in and tamed themselves...also I added 4.10s and that gets me out of the drone most of the time.

Seriously it really isn't that bad. The benefits far outweigh the rewards.
The drone issue really only depends on how fast you usually drive on the highway. Here at home on the highways i usually drive between 120 and 130 km/h (75-80 mph), and I rarely will ever notice the drone. However, I was in NY on the weekend and was driving 55-60 as to avoid attracting troopers and I noticed it was a bit more annoying.
I don't really ever notice the drone at all in city driving.

Nice clips Rich and Jarrod. I myself keep debating between Bassani and Borla. Anyone have any thoughts on them?

It sounded to me like the Borlas were a bit tingy at the top. no??

Would you be able to comfortably listen to talk radio at 55-70 mph with 3.55s? I listen to tech related podcasts sometimes.

Those helped some. Can you recall how you were driving on the incar vids?

That being with an off road X which I understand wakes them up tremendously makes me think it might not be too bad with the stock setup.

daily driver, stock with FRPP stingers.
I listen to talk radio, talk to my friends, talk on the phone all with ease.
I drive about 1.5-2 hours on the road non-stop to get to class.

no one complains about the drone. except my dad, he's old, lol.

As long as you cruise above 1800 RPM, the drone can't be heard. It's only when you're moving through 1500-1800 RPM when the drone can be heard.

Also, those with off-road pipes and Mac Pro-Chamber setups will have less drone or no drone. It's the stock cats + stock H-pipe that produces a lot of drone with aftermarket cat-backs.

I've got the Ford stingers and 3.55's (rest of exhaust is stock).... Great sound, highway cruising sound levels not bad at all.

Have the FRPP Stingers with a 3:73's. Drone is more noticeable around the 55/60 mph range. I love the sound and have gotten alot of good comments about em. However, if the drone is a prime concern for you - would go anotehr route.

I've got 4.10,O/R H, and Stingers. I don't mind it except during long trips then it starts to wear on me unless I have some music playing. For me adding the 4.10's made the drone worse.

I had a long thread on here a while ago about the drone issue. Some people hit it right on the head, at 1800-2000 rpm (which incidentally is where the car spends most of its time) the drone can be positively maddening, and that's not old fart talk. In my vert, it was like having a dental drill running. So after many attempts and different parts to kill the drone, I just gave in and got the GTA's. Looking back, it would have been worth the $600 for the Corsas, and that is what I would recommend. The Stingers have a kickass sound and are loud...but the NVH issues with these cars mean everything you change can upset the house of cards.

God I wish I could have found a way to kill the drone....

The drone with my Violators is bad if you really get on the throttle at the 1500-2000 RPM range. With my 3.55s, I cruise on the highway at about 2200 RPM (70-75 mph) so there is no drone. But I shift at 2000 RPM so around town I will hear a lot of drone especially if I hit stop and go traffic. Now, if you get rid of the cats, you will kill the drone. Weird as it sounds, this seems to be the most effective way of killing the drone short of installing extra resonators in the exhaust system. That said, I actually like the drone especially when you let the car decelerate into the drone range on the highway. It actually burbles... but I agree that too much of a good thing can be bad.

I just listened to the videos you have. That idle when the thing calms down is amazing.

HEHEHE and those vids were with the flowmasters. I only recently changed over to stingers. It's sounds even better now.
