Will a 245/40/18 tire fit a 18x9 wheel?

I just ordered a set of 18x9 and 18x10's FR500s to replace my current TSW thruxtons, ******* me, just realize that the tire is on the front now is a 245/40/18 because the front wheel is 8.5 I believe. I don't think the 245's will fit, what do yall think?

I'm running 275/40/18s on all four corners, with 18x9" DD bullitts. I would think that the 245 would work but seems like it may be a stretch.

a 245 on the a 9 inch wheel will be to small. Will it work? physically yes. Will look horrid though. Save the wheels, save up some scratch and install 265/40/18's on the front. Will fill the fender well nicly and give you a good contact spot. For the 10 inch rears, go no smaller then a 285 but no bigger then a 305.

I run a 295/35/18 on the rear. bit smaller then the factory 27" diamenter. If I had the money and when I have it I'll replace my drag radials come spring time ish, with some 285/40's Bit taller and only 10mm less contact.

Yea, I already have a set of 295/35/18 Toyo Proxes TR-1 for my rears. I just read an issue of MM&FF where they put a set of Nittos 555 on a set of 18x9's Ford GT wheels. 245/40s up front and 255/45's out back.

These 245's might have to go on there for a week or two until I can fork up some more cash. Thanks for you guy's help though.

They will probably fit - barely

I recently purchased those wheels for my '03 Mach1 - in 17 X 9 and 17 X 10.5. Run 275s on the front and 315s in the rear. THOUGHT about going with the 18s but decided on the 17s so I could get the wider tires on the car.

Post a picture of the car once you get the new wheels - would like to see.

245/40/18 is approved for rim width 8-9.5" So the fit will be perfect.(other posters were wrong, no hard feelings guys!)
But its gotta look funny imo. Small tire compared to stock.

255s on the FR500 18 x 9" wheel will look nice with a straight sidewall. Ran that on the Roush of mine.

You will get a sweet old school style bulge with a 265 on there.

Depends on the look you want, compared to the best contact patch possible. IMO, anything narrower than a 255 will be difficult to keep from scratching tires.
