Well after a long weekend and a long drive (about half of what 169Stang had to drive) I am happy to announce that my wife was able to clinch 3rd place in the Modular Motor heads up class at the NMRA World Finals. We were running a 125 shot of nitrous but the car was running way rich in 3rd gear and surged/puffed black smoke from about 5000 RPM's up to 6500, this is the reason for the low mph when compared to the ET. Spark plugs are all fine, just a little black but there appears to be no preignition knock or detonation taking place. Regardless I will be backing down to 75 shot and returning to the track as I believe the car will consistently pull upper 11's out with just 75 and the right tune. After all of the eliminations and "playing with the bottle" on the street at night we only used about half of a bottle of nitrous. Chalon really outdid herself with reaction times on a pro tree from .030 up to a worst .112. 60 ft times were consistently 1.65 and 1/8th mile ET's were 7.60's.
Here are some vids from our passes.

Any complaints about video quality and commentary can be directed to 169Stang. Thanks David, I was too nervous/excited to film her.

It was great to meet someone that you "chat" on the internet...not to sound weird. All I can say is that Derek and Chalon are some great people, well, his wife is a bit harsh (just kidding Chalon). I couldn't say anything without a comment towards my car being a show car (broke down). She's hilarious and you need to be sharp to handle her! Credit to you Derek! J/K
We had a great time hanging out with you guys! Your wife can drive!!!!Very consistant. I wish my wife would go beyond the "I love to drive the car" to "I'm racing it, not you...you're the pit b*t*h."
Derek, my house is always open if you guys are ever down in S. Flori-duh.
I know it wasn't the best in video recording. My digital camera doesn't zoom in film mode. Chalon handed some of the points leaders A**es to them!

I agree that it is great to have a wife who loves the sport of drag racing and enjoys making laps down the track. I'm fortunate that way as well. We're not as quick as Derek and Chalon (yet), but we do like sharing the track experience. My wife never complains about how much I spend on the car... she just complains that she wants to go faster.

Congrats.
I lost in the first round in the Mustang Shootout. Got beat by a 17.3 second Dually pickup. Made 2 trial runs 12.02 and a 12.01 in the slow lane. Ran a 12.00 against the truck again in the slow lane. The car was consistent. Going up to the track tonight, will try the 100 shot and maybe the 125.

HEY! I just saw a picture of your wife in the car, on the track and (I'm guessing you) holding your child in a New Mustang magazine that just came out. I didn't buy the mag but I'll get the name of it as soon as I can. Cool! CONGRATS!

"They know me real well now...hehe I yakked there ears off during the 46hr delay. Yes a great accomplishment by Chalon. She took out one of the best Mod Muscle racers 1st round (Smilin Chris Colitas). You guys did great, hopefully you can attend some more events."

"Well she beat me too. It was nice meeting you all and she is a great driver. All the guys back in the pit had a field day telling me I got put out by a girl. I told them you race her then and see how well ya do. She got to that point driving her hiney off and did a great job doing it.
PS I broke 4th gear on that run, but I think she was going to get me anyway. I pulled a good light (.007), but the car bogged and she was coming on STRONG son. She can shift a 5 speed with the best of them."

Great job Derek and Chalon. It was nice chatting with you. Hope to meet up with the two of you again at an event next year. My wife doesn't drive but she loves to watch. I am sure that Chalon will be running that weekend over in her head for some time to come.
GREAT JOB!
