widest 'factory style' wheel/tire combo?
I have the factory wheels, tires, suspension and brakes on my car, and I'm expecting at least a few grand in tax returns, and I have always wanted wider rear wheels & tires on my mustang.
What's the widest rear wheel and tire combo I can go with out sticking out the fender well, or rubbing anything? Do any companies make the factory style 5 spoke wheels in larger widths? I'd like to keep them 17 inch if Possible, but if I had to I could go up to 18s in the back, I don't think it would look to odd with slightly larger diameter wheels in the back? Or is that a no-no? (for safety and looks?)
I don't race or take hard turns, so grip isn't really my consern, just want a wider look.
I have the standard 5 spoke wheels like these:

I have bullet style rims wiht 295/45-18 on the back.. they fill the wheel wells nicely and don't rub (even when launching my car 2 feet in the air off of a big hump in the road) and I'm lowered on Eibach pro springs.
I think anything over 295 is going to start sticking outside the wheel well, and the price of tired past 295 starts to get crazy as well.
You can keep the 17's in the front if you want but for 2k you can get some nice rims and tires..

yes and Mustang tuneing is where i got them from. They do look similar to stock rims only black and deep dish rims all around.
I think somewhere i saw that the rims they have are close to the stock color but not a perfect match so it might look goofy.
Go for new shoes all around

Yes, I do A few from the 30s, and some motorcycles. I haven't had time to do any of that stuff for the past 3 years, because I have been working to much. The engine on my tudor here isn't quite as complete as yours, it's missing the pushrods, and valves. The motorcycle isn't quite finished either.

No, the nitrous plate fit and the intake tube is just barely touching the p/s resevior.
I might still move it though.. I have the tubes and clamps but was having trouble finding the fittings locally.

So I haven't had much luck finding 17x10 wheels in the factory style, but 17x9 has been no problem, easy to find. Would it be possible to put 295 or 305 tires on 17x9 wheels? (rear only) or will those tires to be to wide for wheels that are only 9 inches wide? I don't know much about wheels and tires, sorry.

I think I found some! they are 17x10.5 on the rear (I would only be getting the rears, unless they are somehow different looking than the fronts I have right now),
anyone ever ordered from these folks?
Anyone know if 17x10.5 with 305 tires would present a problem in the rear?
