Chance of getting mods...
Single... 100%
Girlfriend... 90%
Engaged... 50% (hiding parts at work stage begins)
Married... 0 - 10% (If you can buy a $400 purse than I can buy parts!)

My wife doesn't understand why I take "perfectly good parts" off the car and replace them, but she does support my madness 100%. The only stipulation she asks is that I don't race it. In lieu of hiding things (which would only lead to big problems down the road), I can live with that
Hey Dustin, next time she tells you "I don't wanna hear about your stupid car", just tell her the same, "I don't wanna hear about your stupid shoes and purses"... let us know how it goes! ha ha ha

Hey Dustin,
Where do you hide the old tires/rims and other parts you take off? Do you take them back to work?? My wife has been pretty cool thru our 30 years of marriage. She has aiways been good about letting me buy go fast parts. I have more trouble hiding the bills for the parts.
Scott
P.S. Don W.
Every consider cloning Mrs. Don W??? Might be worth so big bucks.
Keep her happy!!!!!

If you think that was good, you'll like this
Here's my little shrine to the drag strip gods with all my little cars and time slips. I have the picture of my car burning out at the track hanging up along with my fastest time slip hanging up next to it. Every time I do better the new slip goes up.

She and I have been talking about getting her a car to race. As an example how she thinks, she asked me if we get her a car, would I intentionally make sure that it was slower than mine. haha. I said, "Of course not, dear".
I agree with some of you that its more convenient to get parts delivered to work.
However, my definition of "convenient" may differ from yours; to me convenient means "less arguements if she doesn't know about them......"

Who else here hides parts at work from your wife?.... At 52 I used to do it too. Funny thing is I didn't have to but old habbits are hard to break.
"What did you get now?"
Oh, just a new motor
What kind of motor is that?
You know, a new ENGINE for my car.
Oh, OK... How fast is this one?

Shame on you Dustin for even starting this topic! If my wife were to read this, it wouldn't help out too much. She knows about the buildup, but really doesn't know the cost of it all.
She knows what the motor cost, the tranny and has an idea of what the turbo costs.....but there are a few other things needed to go with it all. She has pretty much forgotten it all now though being that I bought her a 96 Mystic Cobra today. 14,000 miles and COMPLETELY stock with all the paperwork, stickers, certificates.

I took my car in this moring for the 4:10 gear installation and my wife wanted to know why I was taking my new car to a mechanic? I told her it was ready for it's 5000 mile service and I hated the dealership.

Our local dealer started a subsidiary performance shop, so if you get mods done there, they are *very* leniant with warranty issues. I told my wife I'll be dropping the car off with them for "some issue with a potential noise from the differential." Yeah, the "potential noise from the differential" is the future sound of screeching, burning rubber when the 4.30's go in!I also have such a sloppy workbench in the garage, that even I can barely make out the CHE adjustable panhard bar and LCA brackets that are buried in the heaps. No way can my wife make them out.
This is a funny thread...LOL I used to have a wife that was mod un-friendly... :bang: So I kicked her to the curb and traded up for a G/F who just likes riding in the Pony...

It cost more at first (Divorce), but has more than paid for itself at this point. Life is good.
