Whipple VS. Kenne Bell
ok what are your thoughts people....which of these giants takes the peoples choice for reliability, Performance, and ease of installation and maintenance...i left out Vortech, Paxton, and Procharger since they use the stock intake manifold and according to KB the stock intake is not a good idea for high boost preassures and the Saleen and Roush since we can read up on them from people with their cars (does not mean i do not like or think less of them i just really think people use the Whipple and KB more than the Saleen or Roush throught the generations)

No one has a Whipple yet...
But, regardless, I vote for KB.

The whole spread of twin-screws will vary mostly in name, looks, and price. Pound for pound (haha, get it?...) they'll make the same power. Except KB has a larger displacement version (2.3 I think?) coming out, which should...larger. But the bottom end is, the bottom end (I'm rollin' with the puns tonight) just can't take much more than 400hp at the wheels, and all three of the lysholm s-chargers can deliver that (and very similarly with regard to power and torque curves)with 6 psi of boost.
I would get the Saleen blower just because there are more out there. Plus the valley-placement is cool.

The KB I have is the original 2.4L... the more recent ones coming out are now 2.6L. One other thing I really liked about the KB is the placement of the air filter outside of the engine bay.
But you are right, they'll all perform pretty much the same at lower boost levels... as long as you have a good tune in there.

I would also vote for the Kenne Bell, but I am a bit biased.
Mine is 2.6L, whereas the Whipple is a 2.3L. Speaking of Whipple has anyone even seen one on a consumer's car yet? We may be looking at an '07 release date if it doesn't come out soon...

i like the Whipple for the sake of the placement of the intake tube and i think one person on here already ordered a Whipple and it was on the way...i might go KB but Whipple is still my first choice...i just need to see which one performs better on a Auto stock motor...i know the motor without other mods can not handle high boost but what can i expect HP wise with a stock motor

I have an automatic and have a Whipple on order but the first versions available will be for the manual. When I last talked to Whipple they were still finishing the tune on the automatic and said it would probably be available 2 to 3 weeks after the manual. The way things have been going with Whipple that probably means next year.

after some careful thought i have found that Whipple is leaning more towards what Ford wants and not what the comsumer wants like more horsepower with less psi...so i have decided i am going with KB's new Big Bore 2.6L SC with I/C...to me it is more bang for the buck...so far i am looking at $6270 for a black SC with I/C, 8-rib belt system, and extra pulley (highest boost my car can handle {for a day at the track})...so yeah it is a KB for me...and for reference Whipple wants $6600 for their polished 2.3L kit with I/C

Nice choice, I must say!
Also, when you install the 8-rib system, do not use the Dayco tensioner included in the kit. It is thinner and weaker than the stock Ford tensioner that is on your car. Just swap the 8-rib tensioner pulley over to the stock tensioner. I broke/bent two Daycos in a matter of days, and have had zero problems with the Ford tensioner.
What size extra pulley are you going to order?

well i think the best my car can handle is either a 3.00 or a 2.75...but i think the 2.75 or 2.50 is pushing it since i have a stock motor...later i am going to put in Bamachips Custom grind cams and a new driveshaft and rear end girdle

Well, one item the Whipple has in its favor (if they ever deliver one) is it appears to have a superior intercooler. Better charge cooling means more horsepower. Every 10 deg F drop in charge temperature is worth 1% HP improvement.

The reason Whipple is takeing so long is because they are matching their release dates with FRPP since it is the same SC...and there is no problem switching out the outside core with a fluidyne which is the one Whipple uses...and the 2.50 is around 18 psi I think
