Whipple question

Does anyone know if the whipple supercharger has a self contained oil resevoir? or is it tapped into the oil pan? I want to know if I will have to change the oil for the supercharger separate or not.

it's self contained. Not sure how often it has to be changed.

Whipple says to change the oil every 100,000 miles.

100,000?? No way bro, check their website again....

4. Change the oil in your supercharger every 20,000 miles with an SAE 5-50 wt. synthetic motor oil.

Maverick: i was reading the Whipple installation instructions to familiarize myself with the whole process and read on page 67:
"Change SC oil every 100,000 miles and only use WHIPPLE SC OIL ONLY!!"

i wonder which one's wrong, the instruction manual or the website

hmm, your right, I did go look at my instruction manual, and its says 100,000 miles. maybe they just did a typo and added one too many "0"'s. it could be. i know you have to change the oil of a s/c pretty in the area to around 10-20,000 from other s/c owners who i talked to

No more than 20,000 miles! This will ensure the life of your S/C, and optimum performance.

Guys I could be wrong here, but i thought my directions said every 10,000 miles. I do have the non intercooled kit, don't know if that makes any difference. I'm at the office as I type this. I'll check when I get home. Mine even came with a small sticker to place somewhere in the engine bay to remind the user about changing the oil.

okay this is a mess..

i was going through Whipple's site today looking for some info, and again stumbled across another statement referring to oil change intervals being 100,000 miles!

i don't know what to believe, but i will be checking and changing my oil once every 10-20k miles anyway

I had the same question when i put in my saleen s/c. They told me 100,000 miles(more realistically that i would prob never have to change it) because its a special synthetic s/c oil. They told me i could also use synthetic 5w50 but would have to change about every 10,000 miles. Hope this helps, but would still call whipple to verify........
