Any coil will give you the correct signal. For my homemade shift light I used this and it works well.
Number eight works well because it's next to the firewall and makes it easy to run the wire inside the car.
The coil has two wires, make sure that you tie into the signal wire and not the ground.
Use a VOM (volt / ohm meter) to determine which wire is correct. Set your meter to any resistance scale, ground one side of the meter, connect the other to one side of the coil. When you get conductivity you know that the other wire is what you need as a signal for your shift light.

got it

Alright....I got my shift light in today looks very nice...I am going to use the add a cirucuit to the fuse box and I could not even get the fuse box cover off......WTC! I guess I will have to take the whole kick panel off..Got the ground hooked up and I am looking to put the green signal wire through the rubber groument. I have it started....but can't see it coming through in the engine compartment? Do I need to take the inner fender out? or just try and see the wire coming through? I figure from reading it will be best to hook into the white wire with a red stripe. Any long term affects of this? why on some old post were guys having such a diffucult time with shift lights? Thanks again Rob
