When the cop asked her what color the light was.....

She said "what light?" this is after she ran a red light and hit me in the front right corner and wheel. I will post pics soon. the front of the car is hosed, and it looks like maybe a total. does anybody have any experience with a frontal collision with the 05 stang? just wanted to get any info about the probability of repair. it looks like the whole front end bent a couple of inches toward the drivers side....

I had a similar experience, but I t-boned her car. She was the one running the red light though.

My car was totalled, and now I've got an '07. Does it look like the whole front end is pushed out of alignment? Did you have any trouble getting out your door? IF the frame rails are bent, that's going to caise the amount of damage a bunch. It'll also depend on what state you're in, each one has a different limit for how much damage they consider a total. In Nevada it's 65%, but I think it's higher elsewhere.

I know it's frustrating, and such a pain, but you might want to hope for a total, then you get to start all over again with a brand new one.

Let's see those pics, and hope for the best.

well... I'm just glad you are ok? I am assuming you are ok right? A car can be replaced...never know it may be a blessing in disguise. I hit a deer a few years ago and w/the money State Farm gave me I was able to get the Cervinis hood, bumper, spolier and grills.. so you never know.

it looks like the wish bone on the passenger side is tweaked and also the tie rod. not to mention the fenders and the bumper, and hood. also battery acid rained all over my paint and bubbled it all up.

I am glad nobody was seriously injured. and looking at the silver lining maybe i can get a cool hood and front clip at the least and start from scratch if it is totaled. I am just sentimental about that car i guess...

pics...

Wow that's sad - hopefully they won't total it since there are no more Screaming Yellows! In any case good to hear no one was hurt and hope things work out well for you.

The front is definitely racked big time. If it's not a total and has to be fixed find a reputible collision specialist. The average body shop will just guess at all kinds of stuff. My sympathies. Good Luck.

Aww, jeez. Sorry to hear that. I recognize those buildings in the back of your photos. If your car gets totaled, we'll have to give it a proper Western funeral.

Sorry about the car there seams to be a rash of stangs getting smashed up and not our fault... other idiots doing it for us .
Mine is $12,000 before being toren into. A valet did that to mine doing about 30 into the back of a Blazer. I am looking for a total on mine and have an attorney involved. More details as they come along, but going on four weeks now and still waiting.
When a car is totaled there are a number of things, if really un-repairable it is sold to a scrap yard to be striped. What we are looking for on mine is the repair of the car and trade it into the dealer and get cash from the Ins. co. to buy a new one. Sometimes you can buy the car back real cheep and fix it yourself. This works out better if you can do alot of the repairs your self and save the labor charges, otherwise you don't come out ahead.

hope for a totall and if not, go with a lawyer and hit her up for the remainder and then trade it in on another one.

it's not worth the hassles of driving a damaged car no matter how much bondo and duct tape you use to fix it up... you will always know it and will never be happy wtih the way it drives, noises etc....

So sorry to hear about this. Is your insurance going to cover aftermarket parts? I have often wondered if State Farm will cover mine. Where was it when the valet creamed it?

That's not true.
If the vehicle is brought to a qualified bodyshop the car will get repaired properly.
I had an accident with mine last fall and I had a rear quarter panel, front fender, and both bumpers replaced and the car looks and drives perfectly.
The thing is that you should be prepared to know where to bring the car BEFORE you ever have an accident.

I knew where I would be bringing it because that is who I had chosen to paint my Steeda hood and wing earlier in the year.
By being prepared the car is brought where you want and it's nearly impossible to get the car moved to a different shop.

When looking for a shop look for one that is clean, well organized with modern equipment such as a downdraft paint booth, paint mixing room and a laser frame alignment machine. Most shops willing to make large capital investments usually will also invest in the training of their staff.
A good shop will also not have a bunch of crashed or unfinished cars laying around unfinished in the yard taking up space. They will only take on the amount of work they are able to handle in a reasonable amount of time.
A quality shop will not bondo a car but will replace or pull and reshape the parts with only a light skimcoat to contour or cover factory seams.

This is the place I chose to repair my vehicle. As you can see he is heavily into the mustang scene with even a couple of original Shelby ground up restorations.

By using a garage of your choice you can also upgrde certain items such as the hood, front facia, headlights, grill, suspension, or even mufflers for very little cost.
I had the magnaflows installed for nearly the same price that it would have cost to replace 1 muffler.
The front Steeda facia was about $150 more than the factory item was new.
I also installed the Saleen HID headlights since 1 was damaged in the accident.

Best of luck with the resolution of your insurance claim.
If it is to be repaired find the shop that will propely repair the vehicle.
Remember that some insurance companies have agreements with some of the shops in your areas which almost certainly means that there is a reduced rate given to them but obviously that money will be saved in other areas.
Always remind them that you are the victim here so if the shop of your choice charges more so be it.
Over here the law states that only new parts can be used in a vehicle under 2 years old.
Check the laws and your insurance policy for your particular case.
Best of luck.

My '05 had $14,000 in damage (no frame damage), i found a good shop, and it drove like it was new. I still traded it in on a '07 GT/CS, not because of the accident, i just wanted a GT/CS.

Make sure they check the frame. Even the slightes bend in the frame will cause you handling problems with your car forever. I owned a 98 cobra that got hit right in the passenger side wheel. It only broke a corner light and left a little dent but the front suspension absorbed the brunt of the impact and the unibody frame got bent. I could tell right away since I had trouble opening up the driver's door. They didn't total the car but it handled like garbage and I always had front end alignment problems so I sold it.

For starters I call "not totalled". Any quality body shop can fix just about anything to OEM specs. If the inner structure is tweaked at all, they can pull it as necessary to get it back in line. Once everything is back where it belongs it's simply a matter of cutting along the dotted lines and welding in new components. As long as everything measures up per the factory specs, you will have no ill affects as far as handling is concerned. If they don't get it right then all bets are off. Ask around for opinions. Visit so shops and ask for a tour of the body area as well as the paint shop. Everything should be neat and orderly and the paint booth should be clean. You might try shops that specialize in high end cars. Their rates are often higher but if you have a good insurance company that shouldn't be a big deal. They want your car fixed right too.

I agree... but I gotta say... new vehicle. Forget that, if they total it buy an 08 You deserve the new vehicle you were driving...

The key word is "pre-loss condition". That would be new.
