It's been more or less 2 years now since the first superchargers for the S197 GT have come out. The lowest prices for the SN95 supercharger kits now range from $2500 (Vortech, centrifugal) to $3500 (FRPP, Roots type). Isn't it about time to start seeing some serious price cuts for the '05-'08 superchargers? I mean, 90% of the kit parts are the same (SN95 vs. S197), any additional R&D costs must have been covered by now... what else is needed?
To be honest, I don't think I'll install a S/C on my Mustang as long as it'll be my daily driver, but if I see a twin-screw for less than $3500 I'm sure I'll bite the bullet and turn the Mustang into a track-day car.

Prices will drop when demand goes down...... there are so many people getting blown that prices remain firm. Plus from the manufacturer's perspective, anyone can now buy a base GT for $26000, add a full blower or turbo for say $6500, and a fully streetable, great handling & looking car with ~475 horses at the wheels for about ~$33000.

 

I hope we start seeing some price drops as well. Dropping $5-6k on a S/C and then whatever labor and tunning time would be is steep for most people. Cut that price in half and you'd sell even more product and get a lot of us off the fence.

 

They'll drop, but not by much. Additionally, you won't see this happen atleast for another 18-24 months. The longer they product the 3V and don't modify the chassis, the longer it will stay at that price. FoxBody S/C are just beginning to become affordable... it's a PITA.

either way, when i get the chance i am pulling the trigger on a Whipple IC kit, in black or one of their powdercoated finishes (maybe the color of the plenum cover or a charcoal grey like my stripes)

That's the tuner kit. Comes without any calibration.

Also beware... the company out there that sells it for $5775 also charges nearly $145 in shipping.

Like a lot of guys out there, I too would like a blower. But by the time I save enough money, the 50th anniversary Mustang will be out. That is a car I will want for sure.
