whats the diff in these strut and shocks

saleen
are the Bilstein's that much better?
Tokico's
Who makes the saleens for them? Is it just the warranty that makes the bilstein's worth that much more?

Saleens are private label unit done by Vogtland which uses Alco and Tokico for the constuction of the S/S

Bilsteins are a personal favorite of mine. I absolutely love their products. Best in the business.

Tokicos are a great adjustable unit. If you require this feature look no further.

Which is best for your application will depend on many factors. Let me know about their intended use and I would be happy to make a suggestion.

Thanks

I could not be happier with my Bilsteins. They are dialed in perfectly. Require no adjustment. And transformed the car.

Thanks! Not really looking for adjustability just some struts and shocks that will work well with my ebach springs on the street at a good price that will last. Of course I like to do the speed limit around the corners lol. I think if I had the cash I would go with the bilsteins. Sounds like the saleens would be worth the extra 10 bucks over the tokicos

I like the Bilstein's myself too and will probably go on the car when the suspension gets more attention this winter. They do cost a few dollars though.. I think I'm keeping ultralites with those shocks and HD tower caps. Going for HP street performance rather then a track car. 14" brakes, new LCA's and maybe some stiffer sway bar bushings and that's about it. Add Hellion and enjoy...

I don't get it what makes the bilsteins worth 300 bucks more than the other guys. Are they made from better materals? Better warranty? Better rebounding?
I hear good things about all 3 packages I have listed.

Glenn.... I believe that the OEM shocks and struts on the new S 197 mustangs are in fact made by Tokico for Ford. I'm also fairly sure that the FRPP Stg 3 kit is also a Tokico made product. It's all in how they are valved that makes the difference.

Any of the products you listed will be an improvement over the OEM's. I've always thought highly of Bilsteins, never owned a set, because they are to expensive. So, I have used Koni and Ford Racing since the late 60's.

Glenn, not sure how where you coming up with that figure. The Bilsteins are $587, D-specs - $507 & the FRPP are around $400.

Bilsteins are Bilsteins, you are paying somewhat for the name, and also for the fact that they are awesome shocks and they put a ton of time into getting the valving right on these things.

Can't go wrong with Koni either. But last I checked they were widdling them out of steel with a dental pick and needed another 8 weeks to get them to market.

Koni is finally shipping the S197 struts and shocks. We received a tracking number yesterday for ours.

Too funny. I refused to wait for Koni. Hope to hear the feedback on them.
