What would you get, 05-09 GTw/mods vs, 98-00 Corvette?
I like 05-and on Mustang GTs. I honestly "lust" after a 98-2000 C5 Corvette, so **** sexy looking, looks like a sports car. Mustang looks like a proper Muscle Car. Well of course my dilemma is that I have a wife and two daughter's, 8 and 11. What would you choose for mostly a daily driver and for weekend tracking / road course? Here are the choice setups.
A. 05-09 Mustang GT with: Steeda sport springs, Steeda shocks / struts or Koni SRT shocks / struts, Steeda front and back sway bars, Panhard bar and Steeda plates. Maybe also cai and tune. Not sure what cai, and especially tune.
B.98-2000 Corvette Coupe, not convertible with: Z51 package or decent aftermarket shocks/ struts and sway bars.
How would these compare on the road course, handling? Is the Corvette that much superior? Ger.

You'll get more utility out of the Mustang since it can pull double duty if need be. Its also easier to modify and also may be cheaper unless your absolutely looking to eclipse the vette in performance, maintenance is also lower on the Mustang due to its simple rugged nature.
The Corvette will make a much better track car owing to its lighter weight, lower center of gravity and better aerodynamics as well as a full SLA/IRS suspension. The engine is also easier to mod. The Corvette's real down fall is its two seater configuration and limited trunk area limiting its usefulness outside of the road course.
You can't go wrong either way so it really comes down to what sort of utility do you want out of the car, with the Mustang you can haul your kids and wife around yet still have a capable track car versus being able to carry one of your family members at a higher level of performance.

Vettes never did excite me much after the 'early '70s models, and my favorites are the '63-'67 Stingrays and the '61 & '62 Corvettes.
In any case, with the Vette there's no room for those daughters.

Go with the mustang. The daughters and wife will love it. You can't take weekend drives with just one daughter. You need the whole family. Car wise the vette will feel sportier. But mustangs have that charm.

Corvette hands down!! I love my
Mustang but it's not even close to a C5 I'd you want a coupe look at the 99/00 FRC looks like a Z06 all FRC have Z51 suspension, black interior and all 6 speeds there great cars. I just bought me a 03 Z06 and love it.

The interior on C5's is disgusting. Really cheaply made (worse then a mustang). I was in the same position but could not stand being in the car. It feels/looks old. Choose the ford, your daughters will love you for it.

asking that here, you probably realize is gonna get biased results...ask on a vette site though and i bet you'll get laughed at for even considering the lowly ford...
anyways to add my obviously biased 2 cents, +1 on the kid thing. we had 3 kids, getting the mustang was a battle- instead of replacing the minivan though we just got a extra mustang for more seats...mileage sucks when caravanning, but its all good- I still dream of caravanning to california one day if I live long enough, with all four of them(the 69 has at least a years work to go yet). worst case, next colorado trip will be 2 mustangs, and a stretch of the 66 trip in Arizona. really cant imagine that trip in a snug fitting corvette, and it would be one passenger only... I did a 6000 mile trip in 90 in our 85 camaro- three of us, ten days on the road, i was the only driver- aside from the camaros skateboard like ride, it was a good trip- the mustang has a lot more comfortable seating for long trips, and a real trunk...
I would really think for corvette money a lightly modded mustang could hold its own pretty well, but face it, mustangs are kinda heavy...not camaro heavy, but still...the lighter/lower car will always have an advantage. thing is would the kids rather sit and watch or ride along?

My mustang interior was way worse than my C5 Z06. my corvette is hands down better in every way from the mustang. But thats my opinion and i have owned both.

To me, this is a no-brainer, the Mustang.
It's way more practical (meaning you'll get a lot more use out of it), and IMO, a much better looking car.
Plus, I've had mine for 10 years, and I still love the interior.

My nephew had an 00 vette and it was soooo uncomfortable to drive any length of time. My 07 mustang is very comfortable to drive long distances. Also, it will hold 2 adults and 2 children and I even like the looks better.

I agree on all points about. I love the 70s Stingrays best, but a C5 would out perform the 05 Mustang. I owned a 2010 Challenger R/T but traded that in for my 2005 Mustang GT. Why? I love Mustangs (and all muscle cars) and my payments were cut in half. Plus I get 4 sears. That's plenty of room to haul the kids around. My S197 is plenty fast for me around town, but you could easily build a track car.
If you don't fall in love with the Mustang, buy a Vette. Don't have buyers regret.
Good luck, OP!
