I agree. The Hurst shifter is notchy, but I doubt it is the cause of difficult shifting. I do like the idea of a slightly taller handle. Upshifting in these cars sucks big time, mostly (I think) due to an almost total lack of engine braking due to the tune on these cars. Synchros cannot sync-up quickly enough if you don't get an appreciable rev drop during shifts. I am sure that reducing rotating mass will help (flywheels, UDP), but the computer is still going to get in the way of the throttle plate on this engine.

Every drag race I have seen in these cars, the manual upshifts are taking forever on most of them- probably why the autos are so **** fast that it almost makes no difference whether you have an auto or a manual in an S-197, if you're drag racing...

I love my Hurst! I've switched out the bushings for Energy Suspension's poly bushings which helped alot with feel and noise. I can upshift as fast as I could in my '00.

Do you have a link to where you got the bushings?

They are still using my car for R&D, although are in the final stage. Look for the bushings to debut at SEMA. I

Isn't that a tunable parameter though if you have the programmer?

Mine's been great since day one. Other than the handle being just a little too tall, I woudn't change a thing.

I wonder if the guys who don't like it didn't just get a faulty one. I know one guy who had a problem with it vibrating/shaking... a LOT and Hurst is going to replace it.

There must be some bad ones out there, because I couldn't ask for any better of a shifter.
