WHAT is trumpeting?
I hear people on here talk about trumpeting (regarding exhausts)... and I can't find any description on here of WHAT IT IS... Could someone please describe trumpeting for me?

if a guy had longtubes, could you run the exhaust straight out the back... eliminate the mid pipe x-h or prochamber. would the longtubes account for scaveging ??? bet you could hear the tubes better.

Anyway, trumpeting is a reference to exhaust sounding like a trumpet. It's usually caused by running headers and is worse when you have mufflers that just don't compliment the header design. Longtube headers will give that trumpeting sound more than shorties, but longtubes are clearly better for gains in power.

Hey Nick,
After I added my longtubes I had to go back to a chambered style muffler (Magnaflows) to eliminate the trumpets and harshness I was getting with the GTA mufflers. If you are still running and intend to keep your stock cats in place than you should never get the trumpeting sound. It is hard to describe what it sounds like but you will know it when you hear it.

Here's mine at :16 you can here the trumpet. This was before the S/C, and it is worse now with the S/C. I just drive around it. The other 99.999% of the time just sounds to good to do anything else.
