A supercharger has finally become a reality financially! Here's the hard part, which one do I get? I have brought it down to a Saleen S/C package from Brenspeed (either Stage 1 or 2), a Paxton 2200 H.O. kit from Brenspeed (polished ), or the more financially favorable Vortech Non-Cooled Package from Brenspeed.

I have done plenty of research on these superchargers and on twinscrews and centris, but I just wanted to see opinions of people. If you could have done it all over again, would you have chosen the same blower? And please, no turbo comments, it is out of the question. This car is a daily driver when there is no snow on the ground here in Minnesota. Maybe I will take it to the track 2 or 3 times this summer, but otherwise a DD.

And about fuel system recommendations, GT500, Ford GT Duel Fuel Pumps, Kenne Bell BAP's, give me your input on them all.

Saleen twinscrew, let Brenspeed decide either stage 1 or 2 depending on your immediate goals.

 

As in, how much power I am seeking?

 

I'm partial to Kenne Bell. And I just switched to dual GT500 pumps and dual BAPs.

But, given the three choices, I say get the Saleen. I much prefer a twin screw over a centri. And whatever you do, get one that is intercooled. IMO, its foolish to skimp on the IC.

 

I say go with Vortech, it's the best looking setup IMO, and has a lot of potential.

-I like a clean engine look, instead of hoses, pipes, and wires everywhere

 

I'm going Saleen Stage 2 from Brenspeed before the end of the month.

My reasoning is twin screw over centri.

Intercool always over non-intercool.

Brenspeeds tune, setup, and experience in selling and installing their stage packages.

 

Are you getting it installed at Brenspeed's facility? Or one in your home-town?

 

I am going to do the self-install. Others have done it here with success.

I would love to have it installed at Brenspeed, but they are 1,200 miles from me, 2,400 round trip. I should have done it a year ago when I first checked into it. I could have shipped the car to them and had them install it for far less than it costs now. And I don't have time to trailer a 5 day round trip up there.

I also know of 0 shops around here, and I would still trust myself more than them.

Brenspeed assures me that if I can do a LT header install, and have some knowledge of automotive wiring (I've done dozens of stereo installs), then I can install their all inclusive Stage 2 with their comprehensive instructions.

I've got 2 commissions to collect and then I'm going to place the order, I hope, fingers are crossed.

 

Matt, I voted for the Saleen for you, even though I have the Vortech non-intercooled on my '07 GT. I think you'll really like the instant torque of the Saleen blower and it makes as much power up high like the Vortech anyway, so it's a no compromise power adder.

Not on his list of three that he's narrowed it down to.

 

My preferrence is for the Whipple, but of the choices I would say the Saleen. Definitely get the Intercooler. There is just too much information and experience that says an Intercooler is the only way to go, no matter what you do.

Whipple gets my vote and will always get my vote, it is a true complete kit that comes with everything!

But for your list, Saleen.

The only reason I left Whipple out of it is due to their recent price increase

 

Maybe some prefer to choose a supercharger based on superior performance, rather than looks.


+1... unless someone has an 8000 rpm race-only car, the centrifugals don't have any advantage over the twin screws. One only has to look at this list to see that twins screws and turbos have the performance edge.

Need to get the Brenspeed guys on there, they're running 10s with a Saleen setup and 5r55 auto trans. I'm honored to be on that list at all after only going to the track 2x with the right tires LOL. Hopefully I'll get a couple tenths faster with practice.
