what to spend 1k on?

I have a CAI, CMDP, pulleys, and tuned. What should i got next?

Thinking 4.10 gears, shifter (MGW or Steeda), pypes H pipe, and JBA mufflers.

Should i do those mods or save my cash for a S/C?

If you want to make your car alot more fun to drive, do the gears/shifter/off road pipe and mufflers. The acceleration and sound improvements are a great combo.

A blower is a good investment but I'm all about the immediate gratification.

I say wait for S/C if you are good at saving money. If not then buy stuff now.

Gears and exhaust will be fun. And if you did go the S/C route you'd want the exhaust anyway.

Well in my experience after buying all the bolt-on parts available, then ditching some of them and installing a blower, I would say that gears are the only mod that I would do that you don't already have. You'll spend around $500 total (gears & labor) to have them installed. Spend another $275 on a short throw shifter, and just save the rest.

Get the shifter, then spend the rest on gas so you can afford to use that shifter at 6k instead of 4k rpms. No point in having even more power to use even less frequently.

Just my $0.02.

All the stuff above is not going to work with the S/C so thats a loss there.

I would follow the poster that said "do the gears, exhaust and shifter"

And the other poster that mentioned saving up money for gas.

And really save up your money to get the GT 500 engine. Mossmustang has got it on sale now for a little over $16 Grand.......what a deal.

Anyway you look at it.............your hooked for life.........get some help before its too late.

Save about 3-4 hundered more and buy American Racing longtubes from me! That's the ticket!!! PM me for unbeatable pricing...

Or if not, 3.73's and Steeda shifter are killer too. Or I can put a package with all three of those for even MORE unbeatable pricing!

after a long debate with my brother, ive decided not to do a S/c. as nice as it would be and as cool as it would be, just too much money for me. I have decided to go with a zex nitrous kit, MGW shifter, motive 4.10 gears, and whatever money i have left will go towards the exhaust.

With a 125 shot i should be close to S/C power, but at 1/10 the price, i wont have constant wear and tear on the engine, and easily removed if i need warranty work Ya i know this sucks, but i think its the best route for what i am looking for the and the money i have avaiable.

Thanks for the advice guys. I might be able to have my cake and eat it too soon

HA....CR beat me to it. Seriously though this was going to be my recommendation and one that I'm going to jump on!! I can't see spending money on a CAI and pulleys just to have to swap them out later on down the road once you add a supercharger. That's why this time around I'm choosing my mods more wisely

SWEET! I had the same debate, only w/ myself, and came to the same conclusion. For me the next round is around $1,500 for AR LTs, catted H, and CMCV DPs. Gears and N2O are down the road, cams will be first. Keep us posted on the Zex install and outcome.

ive used motive 4.10's in my last two mmustangs with no whine. You just need someone smart enough to know how to install them.

I was looking at the Mac coated long tubes with pro chamber kit from Brenspeed with MIL eliminators and O2 extension cabled for $930 (minus the MIL and wiring kit its probably around 850). I thought that was a pretty good deal, and since i have bought all my mods from him, i think he will give me a nitrous tune for free on the SCT.

But yes looks like we are headed down the same path, but i wont mess with the cams. The vvt is too unpredictable for my comfort.

I sold my chrome rims so as soon as the money hits my bank account from paypal, the gear and nitrous will be ordered. Too bad i have to wait 2 weeks for the MGW shifter tho

Im still so undecided on exhaust. Im going to see if i can find some feedback on header systems. I like Mac, Kooks, and AR so far, but the MAC price whoops the other two badly (mac $850, AR $1270, and Kooks is $1470). Anyone think the AR or Kooks performance gains over the MAC lt system is worth the extra money?

I guess I'll stick my .02 cents worth in here... It just doesn't make since to me to spend money on go fast mods when the weakest area with the Mustang is the flexing of the uni-body. It robs you of acceleration, braking, and handling... when the body is twisting and flexing from the torque being transmitted through it, power is being lost at the wheels.

I suggest NUMBER 1... Subframe connectors... I like boxed (mine are BMR) $250, go with the 4.10 gears (Motive or FRPP) $500-$550 installed, short throw shifter $275 - $325, a good axle-back muffler (I have IMCO 55506 Extremes) $300. Don't bother with shorty headers. Only get an off road H-pipe with long tubes and only if you go with a big power adder. A good chunck of cash can be spent on headers and X or H pipes with little performance gains.

I am waiting delivery of a Hurst 3/8-16 shift ball so I can install my MGW shifter. I have a very low mileage Steeda Tri-ax with a 2 1/4 White Hurst ball and three custom shift handles that I made... I'll sell it very reasonable and ship it to you. PM me if you're are interested.

probably should have stated my suspension is done. I already have the tokico shocks, steeda ultralite springs, Steeda LCA and UCA, panhard bar with brace, g-trac brace, and subframes. Waiting to do the sway bars and strut bars, as i dont need them yet.

ya i wont waste my time with shorty headers. As for axle backs, i like the sound of stock, so i will wait on them until i get the LT and H pipes in to see how it sounds at that point.

The MAC's aren't bad... but they're not a true long tube. They're actually a mid length. You would be much better off going for a system like Kooks or ARH. The best system hands down is the ARH. We sell all 3, and there's just no comparison! The performance gains is nearly DOUBLE. It's just nuts! Definetly worth the extra 400 bucks for something you can use for the life duration of your vehicle no matter what mods you choose.
