What GTAs look like on your car (pics)
As a public service, I am posting these pics. I just had these FRPP-GTA axel-back mufflers put on. I did a lot of research before buying these, but one of the most frustrating things was trying to find good, clear pics of what they look like.
I think they look great, and the sound is perfect. My car is a daily driver, so I wanted something more aggressive than stock, but without drone and without scaring my neighbors' kids every morning. The GTAs are perfect on all fronts. I've read about rusting hangers, but I live in dry-*** North Texas, and I betting they won't deteriorate quite as fast as in other places.
Anyway, thanks for reading this far. Here are the pics.

I have them on mine and I love the sound and look. Two things to be aware of. One, several folks, including myself, have had the hangers snap off. I got mine from Ninosport and they offered to replace them. I had already removed them and welded them back on myself so I did not take them up on the offer. Two, you can paint them and they look much better. I used flat black header paint and it has lasted quite a while. It keeps the focus on the tips and you don't notice the muffler as much.
I've had mine for about a year now, great sound, never get tired of listening to it, even on a 3 hour drive to Wisconsin Dells. Here's a photo of the back of my car.

RobRob, are these the ones you're talking about? http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=7707
Matt's right -- those are 'stingers.' They're less restrictive with a louder, deeper sound -- and those slash-cut tips are awesome. They're made of 304 stainless steel front-to-back, which holds up to the elements better (though 409 stainless, like the kind on the GTA bodies, isn't bad by any means). They're also manufactured by Borla for FRPP, so the quality is first-rate, too.
All that goodness comes at a cost, however. They're about 75% more expensive than the GTAs and will drone at cruising speeds, though how badly they drone is really all in the ear of the beholder. They're a great choice if you have the extra coin and don't spend a lot of time driving at highway speeds.
See the GTAs here.

Honestly I don't mind the drone at all, BTW I also have LT's. As long as you stay out of that 2,000-2,200 RPM range you'll be alright!
The roar is worth it!

They are actually a little over 25% more than the GTA's. At Ninosport the GTA's are $299.95 and at Blueovalindustries.com the Stingers are at $419.95

I'll say this: I recorded the chase scene from Bullitt on my television. I listened very closely to the sound of Steve McQueen's car, then I went and listened to good-quality online sound clips of GTAs, MACs, Flowmasters, Bassanis, Corsas and the Borla stingers.
Nothing sounded more like the Mustang in Bullitt than the GTAs did. I was sold. The fact that they did not drone and were easier to afford than most other mufflers was a bonus. You can try it yourself.
Don't get me wrong -- the other mufflers sounded deeper and more menacing (the other car in the chase sounds like it has stingers, ironically), and a lot of people like that "big" sound. I like that sound, too.
But if you want your Mustang to sound like the most famous Mustang ever, I recommend GTAs.
