Question what do you think about this new hurst shifter?

http://dagostinoracing.com/index.php...ducts_id=11696

Hi guys, I purchased this shifter, it looks like the new model, I like it a lot, but I still need to get it installed in the car.
does any of you have it?
Or know how good it is?
I was going to get the racing one,(all black)
but this one has the shifter stops in the shifter, so you cant go further than you should pushing the stick.

Let me know what you think, I got it for 199 bucks
Also what info you got about the dealer, are they good?

Thanks Guys!

I have been waiting for this model to come out as well. I like the light billett. I have heard conflicting opinions on the shifter stops...Hurst says you don't need them and others wanted them so they added them. The price seems about right for now since it's such a new model, most places haven't even gotten it on their records yet and some are higher priced. I don't think you can go wrong with it but as always, post your results. It's supposed to be a pretty easy install.

The place that you ordered said they won't be shipping until aug 31'st. Do you actually have the shifter yet or are you also waiting?

I am waiting for them to get it.
But I though they will raise the value when they get it in stock, and I am not in a hurry, so I got it anyway.
I should get it for the first days of september.
It does look stronger too for me, maybe the old one was super strong already, but I like the looks of it also.
Does anyone know the difference between the racing one (all black) and the original hurst shifter?
the racing one ( all black) is more expensive for some reason I'd like to know.
Thanks for the answer, I don't think I'll go wrong with it either.

On Hold???!

I had ordered mine from Dagastino??? as well and they just called me back today and said that Hurst/Mr. Gasket has put an "engineering hold" on the shifter (which basically says it may never get built). Has anybody else heard anything on this subject? I did shoot an email to Hurst to see if they can clarify the information and I will post once I get a response back.

yes, I got the same phone call yesterday, they offered me to get a pro 5 or a steeda, or the actual hurst shifter...
because they don't know when it will be ready,
from these 3 options, which one do you guys think it is the best over all?

pro 5.

hurst shifter.

steeda triax.

post pictures of them if you have them.

Please if you get a email reply from hurst post it
Thanks!

The response that I got back from Hurst/MR. Gasket was that it will be out in September...Great response isn't it. Maybe Ski or Don_W can somehow blame Granatelli.

LMAO! That's funny!

I would vote Pro5.0. I've never heard anything bad about it. I've heard some negatives about both the original Hurst and the Steeda unit, so . But the Pro5.0 seems to kicka$$. I'll let you know in just a couple of days, after mine arrives .

Just from the posts that I have read, the order I would go would be
1. Pro 5
2. hurst
3. steeda.

The thing is if your really set on the hurst, either wait or get the non billett one. I am just going to wait. As you said, not in a real hurry, especially with fall coming. I probably won't put it on now until winter.

Pro 5.0 is an exact copy of the Steeda Tri-ax, they are both the same in design. You need the stop bolts so you don't bend the shift forks in the tranny over time. The old hurst shifter is crap.

I think the new Hurst shifter is better than the Steeda and Pro 5.0, this is coming from a Steeda owner and Mechanical Engineer.

There is no new Hurst shifter......I think that's what everyone is saying. First endless delays, now statements that it's on hold indefinetely- seems like it ain't coming out, atleast not any time soon.

The tremec trans in our cars has internal stops- no stops are needed on a shifter. The original Hurst is a great shoice.

I agree, lets call a truce. This has gotten out of hand and I apologize. Your knowledge and experience are a valuable assett to these postings and I have learned a lot. We will speak of the other no more.

From what I have heard, it is a great deal. They only added the stops on the billett one because people wanted it, not that it was needed. Although I am still going to wait on the billett one, hoping that they have done some improvements to it since it's taking forever.
