What kind of mileage are you synthetic users "Mobil 1" putting between changes?
I`m doing 3,000 miles or 5000 klms with conventional castrol GTX 5W30.

Castrol 5W-50 with changes every 5,000 miles. I run this same oil and same change schedule in all four of my vehicles:
2008 Mustang GT
2008 PT Cruiser
2006 Mustang V6
1988 F350 460 CID.

On my 5.3L Silverado I had Mobil 1 full Syn and changed it every 3000, mainly cause it was 150,000 miles and the rings where getting some wear so the oil got dirty faster, it never burned oil.
On the stang, when I got off the Motorcraft Blend oil and put Mobil 1 5W-20 Extended Performance in, I left it in for 3000 miles to try and clean the engine of any possible buildup from the blended oil. Then I put in the M1 5W-30 Extended Performance And just hit 5000 miles. I will change it next week. Have felt little or no performance drop due to leaving it in for 5000.

I get around 23. IUP calc says 23.8 currently. I drive some country roads and somewhat hilly curvy highway and interstate. 5spd, 3.55.

Click and Clack's answer was as long as the substitute oil is another full synthetic, then it would not harm the engine at all, and it would afford the same protection. They said using Castrol Syntec would be a good example - it will provide as much protection and performance benefit as using Mobil 1.

They used the analogy of ordering a Coke in a restaurant, and getting a Pepsi instead - even though they are not the same, they both do essentially the same thing, and the Pepsi will rot your teeth just as fast as the Coke.
Good to know. I was thinking the same thing

I'm running Mobil 1 right now, but I'll be switching over to Amsoil for international reasons.

I would like to support an American brand in any way I can. For that reason, I'm going with Amsoil.

Good for you, and good enough for me. I see no reason not to switch to Amsoil myself.
