I no this thread has happened before but since all of them are now gone I need some help. I bought the Meziere electric water pump and have a few questions on it

What wire do I connect the blue wire? “Connect the blue wire to a +12 volt source. it should be a switched source. On street cars we suggest an ignition only source. Consult a wiring diagram of your car to locate and “T" tap the wire."

What is a "T" tap?

With aftermarket pulleys I should us a 99' belt correct?

In the wire harness that runs into the engine fuse box there's 2 solid red wires, people have been using that as a switched power source.

A T-tap is this blue thing. They are sold in the automotive electrical dept at Walmart or Home Depot



I used a 99" belt because the 99.5" was too long. I would start with a 99.5" belt and if you see the belt vibrating around the idler pulley with the A/C clicks on and off, exchange it for a 99". Most people use a 99.5", I dont know why mine was different

This maybe a stupid comment, but just to reiterate, you only need to tap into one of the red wires. Either one, it doesn't matter which one.

 

Either one is switched power

 

theres 3 wire bundles running into the fuse box, which bundle has the wire in it?

 

my question is how did you get the provided screws in. the water pump idler pully seems to be in the way.

 

I wondered all these things and says screw it, i'll just pay someone else to do it. Needless to say, it isn't installed yet hehe

We had the old pump off and the coolant drained and then just put it all back together.

it was a PAIN IN THE @$$ I still didnt tighten the bottom screw very tight. Any body have any tips on how to reach it? But so far no leaks and no over heating. Those 6mm hex head screws suck big time. I finally took one of my hex wrenches cut a inch long piece stuck it in the screw and used a small 6mm open end wrench to tighten the screws. I still have to tidy up my wiring I was so afraid it would leak or over heat all I did was zip tie them out of the way. Also is 18guage wire big enough to handle the power for the pump? or do I need to go bigger like 16 or 14?

 

good idea on cutting the tool i didnt think of that. might be a viable option. how much hp does this free up again? is it really worth my trouble? haha

 

well they claim 12hp im not sure about that and with UDP they claim up to about 20hp. Ive noticed already that when i put the clutch in and take my foot off the gas the rpm fall slower and its slightly faster to rev up. Its just one less thing for the engine to turn. But im also still trying to find a 200amp high out put alternator to help compensate for the increased load.

The wiring can be a pain too. I used a piggy back fuse on slot 42 for the switched source and ran my grounds all back to the battery negative terminal. Theres many different ways to wire it. Just do whats comfortable for you.

I also recommend buying 2 jugs of antifreeze 50/50 mix or one bottle of full strength and mixing it. You will lose almost 2 jugs or atleast i did.

Also while your there get some lubricant I bought a small packet thats used for radiator hose installation and smeared it around the O-ring before installing it.

I recommend putting the bottom screw in the pump before u put it in the car makes it easier to get it started.

 

Don't the 05-up GTs use a 101.5" belt?

How much is the ele water pump cost and where did you get it from. 12 hp gain does seem like a lot.

 

the 99.5" was too long for me for whatever reason, too much slack. So I got a 99" and it worked better. I've got a barely used 99.5" goodyear gator belt if anybody wants it for $15 shipped. It might work for you, I dunno

 

The reason I ask is that the catalogs show a 101.5" belt for 05-up GTs and I'm wondering why a 99" belt works for your GT.
