Water Box Qs

Water Box Qs
So I have the MT ET Streets. I will be running those for the first time tonite. I have line locks as well. Do I back into the WB then pull forward out of it then start the burn?

You could pull foward and back into it, but most people I've seen at the track just drive straight through and and stop when the rear wheels are in the water box. From there just roast the tires for 5-8 seconds. Have fun.

I don't know much about the ET Streets, but I used to have a Drag Car with regular MT slicks, and I found that a smaller burnout was better for those tires. Guys with Goodyears or some other brands would have to do a major burnout in the water box to hook up. I just pulled through the water, then did a burnout with NO line lock, and let the car roll forward, sort of Top Fuel style. Once it started to hook, I let off, and stopped before the line. Then I usually backed up a bit to get centered in the groove, and pulled forward to the line.
I always hated doing a burnout in the water, it seems that the water would splash up into the fenders and drip down onto the tire while I'm on the line. Also, my car wouldn't sit still with the line locks. The rear end would wander to one side, and I'd be looking at the wall after a few seconds.
That is how I did it, but that doesn't mean that is what YOU should do. Try a few different ways and see what works best for you, and what you are most comfortable with. Let us know how it goes too!!

I've never actually done it, just been with friends who had slicks, and all the did in the box was spin the tired quick to get them wet, then roll just in front of the box for their burnouts. Like I said though, I'm no expert.

Back into the WB. If you pull through your front tires will just put down a track of water to screw you up. With skinnies up front there would be alot less water that you would drag up to the line.

The problem with driving thru the waterbox with the front tires being street tires is the tread picks up water and carry's it forward. Unless you have biased (non radial) front runners, drive around and back into the box. My initial burnout is a bit longer than the latter burnouts. I burnout until I just see thick smoke.
