Ok Guys, I know I could have ordered the car, and been patient and waited 8 weeks for delivery, but I wanted it when I wanted it and got 98% of what I was looking for.

I wish I didn't have a rear spoiler, and a fake hood scoop. I'm thinking of unbolting the spolier, and filling the holes with 5/16 steel rivets (I have the Crafstman rivet tool). I'd actually have to rivet a loose nut on the underside of each hole so that the rivet grips. I'd also have some silicone sealmaker around each rivet to ensure water-tightness, and then I'd paint the rivets with touch-up paint so that they blend in with the trunk lid.

If it turns out well, I'd also consider unbolting the fake hood scoop and doing the same thing, except that I'd use aluminum rivets to avoid any electrolysis issues.

Your comments , suggestions, counter-indications and alternatives are welcome!

 

Here is what it looks like with NOTHING in back.
There are two small guide holes and the key lock hole.
I have seen both the ribbed and the smooth Fake gas cap delete covers.
I think the smooth looks best.
This might be to much for most to do.
BUT, I do have an Idea for you.
Purchase a smooth delete rear panel and have it painted the same color as your car. All that will be in back is the key hole lock.

My wife's '05 is wingless. She wants a spoiler bad..!! I just ordered it and will paint and install it within the month. I've tried trading this holeless sonic blue trunk lid with one with holes but it's virtually impossible to find someone local with the same color who doesn't want a wing...... Oh well, it's almost time to get the drill out....

 

Willie,I can't believe you can't find anybody.Have you tried other forums?? Don't give up just yet. If I wanted a spoiler delete bad enough,I would find a way to get one w/no holes..

 

Chuck, I have actually located a couple of guys but both were really long distance. The logistics of shipping / trading was not worth "helping" someone who wanted my trunklid. I'd definitely do this within a 200 mile radius though.... or if someone is willing to drive out...

the shipping can't be more than 75~100.If each of you paid his/her own share it would be worth it IMO. Heck Id even pay 150....but thats just me

That would look very hoopty to have rivets on either body panel, sorry.
These rear on these cars look like **** without some spoiler back there.

 

Hey Marc,

Most deck lids have some amount of damage around the holes from the trunk lid being stamped for spoiler use. I took my spoiler off, but it was a temp fix until my Roush spoiler arrived. If I were you I would do it the right way (body shop, or trunk swap) or not at all. Same goes for the hood.

I will be selling my stock hood w/Roush scoop when I order my 2" or 2.5" cowl hood.

I'll try to snap a pic tomorrow of the spoiler. I have yet to order the hood.

Pretty sweet! I like the GT500 spoiler...and $230 painted isnt bad at all! I can't do the quarter window louvers, because my 4 yr old twins wouldn't be able to see out when I take them for joy-rides....

 

That is what I did. I swapped for the GT-500 spoiler. I think it was a big improvement.

 

Yes it is....nice mods!....essentially you've built yourself a Shelby GT for $10-15 k less than what you can buy it for....except they don't even make Shelby GT's in vert!

 

maybe i am overthinking this - but cut out your pices of metal slightly larger than the holes. use 3m body panel adhesive to attach them behind the body panels and fill the holes. take some body filler to smooth it all out. have the panels touched up with new paint.

that would both fill in the holes and take care of any additional body damamge caused by the mounting of the spoiler and/or hood scoop.

well i would plug weld it and grind it smooth but to many - the thought of welding gives them the *******

besides - body filler the depth of your sheet metal is nothing
