Last night, I got a chance to track test the KB for the first time. A more detailed post is here: http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=44227

These are the videos that go along with it (sorry about the in-and-out focus on some of these. The camera tends to do that at night for some reason):

Run #1: This first run was on a green track. Only one other car had been down it and it was very slippery. I got no traction... you can see the car break loose on the power brake, and then just fishtail off the line. Time: 8.792 @ 84.74mph, 60'=2.180

Run #2: This was a much better run (except for the redlight... haha); my first 7-sec pass ever. It was only 9 minutes after the first, so the engine was hot. Time: 7.980 @ 86.37mph, 60'=1.828

Run #3: This is an in-car shot with Ed riding shotgun. It was only 5 minutes after Run #2. I didn't get a timeslip, but the ET was 8.20.

Run #4: This ended up being the quickest run of the night. Time: 7.859 @ 87.72mph, 60'=1.790

Run #5: This run was 8 minutes after Run #4. As always, hot lapping steals away performance. Time: 7.979 @ 86.20mph, 60'=1.803

Run #6: This run was 7 minutes after Run #5. Even though the heat soak slowed it down, I love the way it squats on the launch on this run. Time: 8.039 @ 85.71mph, 60'=1.821

Run #7: The was after nice cooldown period. This was the second best run of the night... even with a slight tire spin on the launch. If it would have hooked better, it might have run lower yet. Time: 7.890 @ 87.72mph, 60'=1.830

Ed had to leave after this run, so we didn't get any more videos (Thanks again Ed for shooting these!!). Run #7 was the last time trial before the Bracket Race started. I used the 7.890 run as my dial in for the bracket. With 30-40 minutes between runs after that, my next two ETs were 7.895 and 7.899. Like I said on the first post... this thing was deadly consistent given a nice cooldown period and a decent track condition.

I always enjoy watching the videos but get alittle tired of seeing the burnouts. Just my recommendation that you start filming at the tree.

LOL... sorry, but that's not going to happen. Burnouts are favorites of my wife and I. Just start "watching" at the tree.

LOL, I was expecting that reply Don, after I read his post. "UH...NO!" LOL. Besides, the burnout is apart of the whole experience. I had thought about telling you that the ET Streets don't need that much heat up, but thought about who I was telling that too and figured it would do no good to suggest it. Awesome times, but I know there's more in it with the current tune. It's always harder to hook up great when it's foggy.
I know you're a happy man driving that car! I can only imagine right now.

David, I generally try to heat 'em up on the first pass, and then less smoke on later passes. I do actually realize that (but maybe not always practice it). But last night was wierd. It was combination of a bunch of torque I never had before, plus the damp evening air, and plus trying to re-learn a launch technique that has worked for me for 200 passes before. I think I was over compensating for a unpredictable lack of traction by overkilling some of the burnouts. I'm sure I'll get a good feel for it again with some seat time.

And as far as I am concerned... the run starts as soon as I roll into the water box.

As much as I love the performance gains, how is there almost 0 whine? That makes me really sad, I always loved the sweet sound of blower whine

The camera makes it look a lot worse than it is. The big dip is after the finish line, and then it runs uphill after that, which creates a bit of an illusion. Also, keep in mind that this is a makeshift track in the parking lot at Qualcomm Stadium. And yes, there are many tracks that run slightly downhill becuase I believe NHRA allows for a 1% grade (i.e., a 13-foot drop over a 1/4-mi track). A good example is The Strip in Las Vegas... see pic below.
