I'll be making a ~$1100 purchase in the near future (Tokico D-Specs, Steeda Sports, BMR Adj Panhard Rod and UCA)...and I need some alternatives.

PS: What does UCA stand for anyway, and what is the function...I think I know what the stocker looks like...I'm getting the Adj Panhard Rod because I want to center the axle when I lower the car, but do I need the Adj UCA too? My car's a DD, I don't take it to the track (ocasional AutoX/Roadcourse only)

Upper Control Arm, it has a few functions, an adjustable version can be used to adjust the pinion angle of the driveshaft when lowering, by being stronger than stock, it helps to keep the rear end from twisting forward on launch, keeping the tires planted. You don't really need it if you don't track the car ever.

The UCA should be adjustable if you are going to lower the car, which you said you were going to do. That will allow you to correct the pinion angle should it change after you lower the suspension.

BMR makes a good adjustable UCA and Panhard Bar, I would suggest getting LCA relocation brackets and the Panhard Bar Brace from BMR. Also, for a DD I would stick with parts that have poly bushings, they are quiter than spherical ends (race only parts).

And of course, my favorite part for mustangs is Subframe connectors as the starting point of any suspension mods. IMO...

marc, our club deals with this vendor. good experiences so far. i tried tillman once. going to stick with stang suspension from now on.

I agree on the subframes, but I was told that for my application...DD with only occasional AutoX and roadcourse visits, no 600 rwhp drag race launches, that they would be overkill.

Sounds ike the UCA is a must if I'm lowering the car to keep the pinion angle correct...that's a beef I have w/the Shelby GT's..they lower it 1.5" front and back, and they don't install an adj panhard rod and UCA....therefore possibly affecting th longevity of the related parts.

 

I also recommend shopping at Brenspeed or other vendors, Tillman may have some discounts, but it isn't worthe hassle. Try ninosport as well...

 

 

Whats with all the knocking on Tillman.....i have placed several orders with CR and not had any trouble at all. Usually have the parts within the week.

 

26 days from placing order (and paying) to when I receive my rear sway bar.....and being left on hold twice (not by CR but by the other dude)....until I hung up...when all I wanted was the tracking number....

I plan to spend $1k to $1.5k on suspension mods, but I'm not going to be left waiting almost a month to get them.

It seems every vendor has some issues I guess. 1st I have heard of a problem with Tillman though. Even a few recent complaints/concerns about Bama on this site. Interested to see how this turns out!

Yes, I'd heard good things about Tillman too, and that's why I tested with a small order (father's day gift from my wife), but every chain has a weak link, and in this case it's CR's partner, or whom ever the other guy is. When I called and asked for CR yesterday, twice he said hold on, laid the phone down on the desk, and I sat there listening to the bantering, etc until I hung up 15 minutes later; and this happened twice.

I don't think customer service ends when you place the order, in fact that's when it should start, and I don't think that I should feel like a vendor is doing me a favor by me giving them business. Not actually complaining about Tillman, but they probably won't get anymore of my business.
