V6 engine swap to 5.4 Nav and now to a GT500
I bought a take-out 08 GT500 engine complete with only 9K miles on it. I plan on removing the 5.4 Nav engine and dropping in the Shelby engine in my 2006 Stang. I need help deciding what fuel system to run with...E85? 93octane? boost a pump, M-9407-GT05, or Aeromotive A1000 Mustang Stealth pump. returnless? fuel pressure regulator with a vac/boost input? also I question if the GT500 crankshaft balance is the same as a 4.6 3V and 5.4Nav? I'm hoping the 03 cobra flywheel/clutch set-up from the 5.4 Nav engine will transfer to the GT500 engine without balance issues. Nav engine runs off a 3V ECM. I'll just swap the GT500 harness ECM pins around to match the 3V locations and re-tune. what do you think?

Not to get your post off topic man but how difficult was it to swap in the 5.4? I'd assume there was more bs going from a 6 to an 8. Time? Any fab? Cost? Thanks man

All OEM parts except upper intake. I got the 5.4 Navigator engine free. It had seized camshaft. Bought both reman heads for 400.00 off ebay. Bought 3v brackets and drive belt accessories from craigslist. 3v oil pan. Nav engine has 8 bolt flywheel so I used flywheel from cobra. 3v ECM/tuned of course and harness minus the cam sensors. Shelby GT500 long tube headers. Sold v6 and trans for 3k. See YouTube videos "Scott 5.4 DOHC". But like everything, gets boring and you go looking for the next performance mods.

after research, available fuel pumps are the M-9407-GT05 $700(twin pumps, OEM GT500, returnless), Aeromotive 18676 $450 (single pump, must run a return fuel system $700), Fore Innovations $650 (twin pumps, returnless, need to run two FPCMs $500). all can run 93 or E85. GT500 pump can support 700hp, but needs to run the FPCMs and therefor has a delay/decrease between shifts (duty cycle drops from 80% to 50% then back to 80%, fuel drops just a little and you feel a bog/sag when your back on the accel). very easy install, only else I would need the fuel line from rail to shock tower. stay wih the 49lb injectors. should be ok. But if I go with the Aero or Fore pumps, use E85, I would need 80lb Cobra Jet injectors $400. what to do??

Edit: just realized you are talking stock GT500 engine not a 700hp one in regards to injectors, stock power with E85 would be 60lb/hr, but might as well buy 80's for future power upgrades
