underdrive pullies.......
underdrive pullies.......
i got a set of "motoblue" ud pulleys when i got my predator tuner and c&l cai from the rpm outlet..a year ago..they look to be well made..i just want to make sure its not some piece of %$##^that i'll regret not putting the steeda set on or some other brand..i have a 2006 gt,,5spd..any advice will be considered
-----PURE RUMOR----- I have no personal evidence at all, but I remember reading on one of the forums that the MotoBlue pullies have an issue with chewing up belts... IIRC, it was something to do with not getting a final polishing after the CNC machining which creates near microscopic ridges. I will state categorically that I do NOT have any solid evidence of this, and the only reason I'm bringing it up is for somebody with solid knowledge to confirm or deny it... AFAIK, MotoBlue is the only mfgr doing billet aftermarket pullies, which I personally think would be a nice dress-up touch, but I'm holding off based on what I heard. I'd love to hear different...

All good. I have the Roush crank pulley, and a Mezeire water pump, but I was looking to sparkle up the idler pulleys. MotoBlue is the only one I could find, but I'm a little nervous after hearing what I heard. Honestly, I'm LOOKING for an impartial opinion to reassure me. I just don't want to spend a couple hundred bucks only to have to put machinework into them to make them actually work right. It's dress-up only...
I'm over 40, and may need translation help here...

IF I understand you right, Bill, my Roush pullies were a touch under $200, and have the SFI rated balancer. If you have the "GenX" pullies (found them HERE), yup, those are the ones I'm looking at. I figure just under $200 for the set by the time you're done with shipping and handling.
I'm just really afraid of being 1-1/2 miles away from pit entry when the belt shreds and leaves me with no power steering heading into a hard turn at 90+MPH. I do like a bit of "bling" under the hood, but not if the parts are LESS reliable than the stock pieces.
Should I assume you have the pullies? If so, have you had any issues with the belt getting roughed up? Do you have the Gen-II or the Gen-X pullies?
well i have the h.o. series $168..i haven't installed them yet..i got them when i bought the drag pack 1 year ago..came in with the c+l cai and predator tuner..by the way what does SFI stand for..?
