All...just caught the newest Sports Car Revolution show on Speed Channel...see the below thread...

http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=17721

8hp, 10lb ft of torque with underdrive pulleys (approx $175)

FYI...more fuel for the debates on good mods.

Yeah. Looked like my car when new! My next mod will be ud pullies. Was the car modded in any other way? The clip was so edited that it went by pretty fast.

Talked to a local tech who has dyno'd two 05 Mustangs with ud pullies and the gain was only 2 hp! Whats up with that?

You could do a search, but I recall seeing a few other posts on this forum with results similar to those of sports car revolutions. 7-10 hp and similar torque.

This kind of small hp gain is what I remember from my '00GT when I installed the ud pullies.....but they did seem to make the engine rev a bit freer which was the real benefit to me....I just installed the Steeda ud's on my '05 last night and would be very surprised if I picked up anywhere near 8hp.....I've got my fingers crossed though!!

Hotlap, let me know because this is what I want to put on next and I'm skeptical now.

Guys...why would underdrive pulleys require a computer tune?? You're just reducing drag not increasing airflow or impacting air/fuel mix right??? Forgive my lack of knowledge on the intricacies here but if you can explain I'd appreciate it...Thanks!

Same here. Just curious, cuz my CEL came on before I reflashed. Only prob was that no one, not even the Ford dealer had the coupler to hook up to my OBD-II t read the code.

UD pulleys by themselves would not require a tune.

Mark I drove mine yesteday after installing the ud's Sat night. They may not add a bunch of hp - but the engine just seems to rev quicker, and feels stronger....I know that's not very scientific - but it's the best I can describe it - well worth the mod IMO.....just don't purchase direct from Steeda and pay too much - after ordering mine I found them elsewhere for as low as $179.00 - assuming they are the same pullies I got from Steeda. I will say the crank pully is a work of art - nice machining with degree marks.

OK. I will ask this one other way and I will stop after that.

Is there any way the UD Pulleys could have been incorrectly installed to make the engine light come on. Unhooking the battery only turns it off for a while, then it comes back on. No change in how the car feels, but the light annoys me.

Hotlap, That should relate to less stress on the motor, right?

Thanks for replying to my question. Now I am leaning towards doing it still.

The piggybank is almost empty though. I should change my sig to will work for mods.

DozerzPony

I've been told that if they are not torqued on properly, that you may have a vibration, which might make other things go off like a sensor alert.

So Dan - you are having the same issue? Paul (Wild Stray) mentioned that you had this issue back in the Feb. time frame and had received an answer from Steeda? What did they tell you and it appears you are still getting the CEL?

thx - b

Dozer - I just spoke with Steeda and they have not seen an issue with the ud's tripping the CEL. He did say there could be a VERY remote chance that the pully is not torqued correctly and has minor wobble which could trip the CEL from the timing ring (sits on the crank just inside the housing near the crank pully - he said that would be a very remote chance though and recommend I have the code read to find out exactly what it is tripping the CEL.

Anyone know (besides taking it to the dealer) where I can have the code read? Is is just hooking up to the harness and reading the code with a diagnostic tool?
