Under Drive Pullies Question?
I have had 2 sets of Steeda UDP's and have sold them both because I was nervous about installing them. I'm trying to do some performance mods to my car that won't require me to make any changes when it comes time for smog other than reflashing and installing the stock air box. What is your opinion?

I don't have them on my Mustang, but I do have them on my Marauder. Considering it's origins and the fact that it is naturally aspirated, it is wicked fast. But, I put the UDPs in along with some other mods, so I can't tell you how much they contributed to the overall picture.
The theory behind them is good, and if they do in fact deliver 10 rwhp, then for $200 I'll probably put them on my Stang as well.

I like my UDPs. I don't think they offer much in rwhp on a dyno. IMO, once all those accessories are spinning at WOT, they don't take much out of the engine. However, as shown in the post above, and at the track, they are better at helping acceleration along the way. I have this same theory about lightweight driveshafts too (another non-smog related mod).

No overheating problems including a number of 20 minute road coarse open track sessions in sunny nearly 90 degree heat at MAM in South Western Iowa. I picked up some fuel mileage (when not on the track) with the installation of my Steeda UDPS as well as the butt-dyno improvements (improved throttle response).

I've had them on for a few months and have had no problems. I noticed right away that there was less "drag" taking off in first gear - much smoother shifting also. No problem with overheating and the a/c seems to work fine. You won't be sorry by adding them to compliment what you already have. BTW, love the 4.10's.

Not Me. But when I did my Steeda pullies I also did the Miezere electric water pump. Great combination. It been in the low 90's here all week and the air conditioning works just fine and no overheating.
Rich,
I know you are skiddish about change things that will jepordize your emissions out there but the UDP's and the electric water pump won't hurt a thing. No tune required. I swear.

Rich if it makes you feel any better, any blower combination uses the stock pullies so no concern there.......

Just don't buy them from RPM Outlet!
Back to topic:
Steeda UDPs here in Southern California, took the car to Las Vegas last month with 110+ degree heat, A/C was blasting the whole time. Car was cool both inside and out! No problems with water pump or A/C performance, that part works great!
Now for the bad news: I could NOT tell any difference between pre-and post install performance. Butt-o-meter didn't register a change. Stoplight launches appear to be the same. Mileage the same. (dismal)
While this mod may give you a tenth at the track (don't know since my Pony isn't allowed at the track) you sure won't feel it in your DD adventures. IMHO not worth the $200 and sore back.
Just my $0.02!
