I have the Steeda UDPs.

PRO: Once they are in you won't notice any difference in your belt-driven accessories, i.e., water pump, A/C, alternator, etc.

CON: Once they are in you won't notice any increase in performance either! (At least I didn't!) Certainly not enough to justify the $200 spent IMHO.

Thanks! I'll probably go with the Steeda's supplied by Tillman.

I'm sure CR will undercut the Steeda price, 'cause that's just what he does!

I was over on the modular ford site doing some research on UDP's and Iread a few posts that talked about throwing belts with UDP's. Is that a common problem or is it just when you are pushing the envelope with power shifts etc.. I would hope the belt would stay on through a few WOT's and some occaisional goosing of throttle. Any one having belt problems? Thanks.

No belt problems here and I push the envelope on a regular basis.

That's good to hear - hard to believe a simplemod would open up a door to problems.

If I remember right adding UDP's doesn't affect the tune.

No retune required and there were more issues with earlier year Mustangs than the S197 platform from what I can gather. I had a set, got alittle nervous about doing them, sold them and just got another set which I am installing next week.

I bet that under "normal" driving conditions, the UDP's get better mileage due to the lower parasitic losses...

Any one care to comment on the better gas mileage? I've noticed a slight decrease since they added ethanol to the gas - I only burn Sunoco.

You will notice a slight decrease in gas mileage with ethanol in the fuel because ethanol doesn't have as high a heat content (Btu/Gallon) as gasoline.

I wonder what the future holds for gas - the press for better mileage and lower prices may dioute it further. I'm about to take a trip so I'll see if the highway mileage has changed. Plan on adding the UDP's once I get back - mayne that will bring me back to last year's MPG figures.

I was asking a friend I met at the track last year about his Steeda UDP he bought last summer and he doesn't drive a whole lot but he did drive it most of the summer last year with them on and he said he had no cooling or charging issues at all and was quite happy with them. He did upgrade to an electric water pump late last summer though he said even before then cooling was a non issue.

I am in that camp of people concerned with them too as I am from the Fox body camp before where UDP were useful but often came with issues. But reading everything on here and talking to people with the newer cars has made me pretty comfortable with them.

Shawn,

Thanks for getting that feedback; really appreciate it! Please educate me on the water-pump (can you tell the mod bug bit me bad?)....how much does that upgrade typically cost, and how much HP does it free up?

Thanks!

Water pump? Not sure I seem to recall a bunch of people doing it last year and it being worth about 7-10HP. Personally I couldn't be bothered going that far, maybe later but certainly no time soon.

Well I didn't chicken out but I have decided to start spending some time with my wife taking trips instead of buying stuff for my car. It's way too easy to read posts about things and then go and buy it. I'm changing directions so to speak and I believe I will start enjoying my car instead of figuring out what mod to do next.

New in the box for $192.99 shipped!

So to everyone who owns them, is the power worth the money? if you had to do them again, would you?

I think my next power mods will be Steeda UDP and CMCV Deletes
