Ford changed something in the air intake for the 2008 Mustangs, and centrifugal blowers had to get re-certified by the EPA. Vortech/Paxton has not been able to secure the certification. Twin screw blowers like Whipple, Kenne Bell, Saleen, etc, use the stock air intake, so they don't need additional certification. Some estimates say Vortech/Paxton lost a quarter million in sales because of it. I guess it's cheaper to develop twin screws than to not sell anything.

It's just like... redesign inlet, rebadge, throw it in a box and you're good. Do something different like Roush and Edelbrock with the TVS or Techo. That's interesting for Vortech, though. Who knows, maybe they'll find a spot to improve.
