At Bowling Green Mike informed David and myself that he is running a shorter gear than 3.55, I can't remember exaclty what but I think it is in the 3.90 range.

Yeah it looks like if the GT is running a 3.90 gear, the trap speed is well above 6300 rpm... Actually, 6395rpm to be exact... I'm not a GT owner, so I cant speculate about it.. I'll leave it up to Mike.. LOL!! I'm more concerend with the V6.. I personally wish Mike would continue with the 7.5 axle with 7.5 gears, to keep the V6 situation closer to stock.. But I'll just wait for the kit, and do my own thing I guess.. I am definatley against putting anything related to a GT on my car.. It just means more when all the parts are V6 related in my book... Whats not strong enough, we make it stronger.. What needs to be replaced we replace it.. To maintain integrity in the V6 05 Stangs true nature is paramount in my book.. Thats what keeps a GT a GT, and a V6 a V6.. You guys with GT's have things alittle easier than us V6 guys.. We must carefully think out every upgrade from the rear-end, through the suspension to the high compression engine and flat top pistons.. Yes, we could have all bought GT's, but this Turbo setup is what will make the V6's fun as well.. LOL! My goal is not to beat GT's, but just to enjoy the build and upgrades.. Dont worry, If I see a GT at the track racing a vette, I'm rooting for the GT... But it goes up against a V6, your going down.. LOL!!

I think the stock 7.5 rear end could handle it, with some mods. Such as: driveshaft loops, girdle, and some 31 spline axles.

Actually, Mike has already run the same car with the stock 7.5 rear-end with Trac-Loc, and ran a faster time.. 12.3... Here is his ticket.. He didnt have the girdle on it and broke the spiders... So a girdle is all that is needed to be successfull with the Ford Racing Tac-Loc 7.5 rear end..
You can also install either the Auburn LSD, or a Detroit True Trac rear-end.. Mike knew this at the time, but had the 8.8 ready, to test the limits of the SOHC 4.0 motor.. So a 7.5 rear-end with 28 spline axles is already approved in a faster application on the same car..

You guys that are interested in upgrading the rearend should really get Mike to tell you about the partner company that he is working with, they have a lot of cool products that are reasonably priced, and they are all on the GT that ran 10.65's. Mike sells their products but I can't remember their name, 169Stang help me out here.

Mike, is a really nice guy (In fact all the employees at powerhouse are) I had a chance to talk to him at one of our local car shows this summer. I will be spending some money at his shop soon, Best of all he is only about an hour from the house.
I'll be honest I wasnt even considering the turbo route untill I saw that Dyno sheet and the pass his car made....
I had a chance to see the rearend upgrades he had installed in his mustang and they were very nice.

But yes, going back to the video, I am really impressed at the last 1/8 of the race.. He made up alot of ground towards the end.. It would have been nice if there was an onboard cockpit video, which had a corner of the boost gauge in view, and the passenger side window, so we could see it all go down like firecrackers from the seat he was sitting in..LOL!
I can just see him saying, "Well looks like I need to dial in another tune, wait....maybe not....Whistle...whistle..whistle...there she is!! Whooosh!! Awsome video 169Stang!

I like Mike. He's pretty humerous and is very realistic. When you talk to him, he's not feeding all the fluff that a lot of people with something to sell do. It was more of these are the facts based on what you see as opposed to here's my sales pitch on what you should buy.

David,
You nailed it right here. I got the same impression when talking to him.
