Turbo Kit for the 05

Hey all,
I was looking for a power adder for my stang and ran across this set up:

This kit will include everything that you will need. The shop car is putting down 525 RWHP but is using 104 octane fuel religiously and is using the stock internals. When the kit comes out it will put the GT to 475 RWHP on 91 octane. It will be using 11.7 air to fuel ratio so it won't be outragiously lean either. I think I will be going with this kit when I get the 5500 price tag saved up.
The kit is also adaptable to hold larger turbos too, so when I get my bottom end built I can go to a larger turbo without getting a different kit, when that is done, 700 RWHP will be doable. God this car is gonna cost me a fortune

Yeah I meant the info has been out. Mike @ Powerhouse is a forum participant. They are making one baaaad azz product. If I had the funds I would do it without hesitation.

There is a video floating around of a 10 second run of the Powerhouse mustang. The thing sounds like a jet plane. The car is losing the race real bad till the 1/8th mile mark, then it just rockets past the other car. I wish there were more Powerhouse videos.

I still find it mind boggling how Mike made up that much ground in the last 1/8th.. LOL!!! Quite amazing if you ask me.. But indeed the trap does not lie... Mike set the traps off first!.. LOL!! WOW!!

Actually Mike said he used 3.90's on that run... Which means, that with 3.55's he wouldnt have been able to make up that much ground.. 4.10's would have most likley takin him out of his power range at which he needed to propel the car that quickley to get to the traps first...
So this does leave a legitamate discussion of debate for the GT guys.. That is do you put all of your eggs into the 4.10 basket, or stay with the 3.55's? Or do you opt for a gear in between both if you set the car up with a turbo.. Knowing that your real race doenst start until after the first 1/8th, how do you gamble...
Looking at the numbers shows this...
Lets say your Mustang runs a 100MPH 1/8th mile.. To make 10 sec run, it would have to be somewhere close to this number...
This places your rpms at about 4587rpm with the stock 26 inch tires of the GT Mustang along with the stock 3.55 pinion and gear...
With 3.90's you will be at 5040rpm...
With 4.10's you will be at 5298rpm...
So it would appear that either the 3.90's or the 4.10's would allow you to place yourself in the right power range of the engine at the 1/8th mile marker to pull off such a win.. However, the 3.55's appear to leave you to far down the the powerband to make up this much distance in such a short amount of time... So my guess is 3.90's or 4.10's would be the best bet for the turbo, based on how it appears Mike is tunning the setup...
I would assume keeping the stock 3.55's would allow the engine to last much longer, so in that I could say it is the more reliable route to take...
The reliability issue is based strictly on the rpm range of the engine, primarily derived from the lower the rpm the better longterm reliability..
Keep in mind that trapping out at 131MPH with 3.90's will mean 6602RPM...
With 4.10's it will be 6940rpm...
I guess you can see where this is going... Be careful guys... Choose your gear wisely... I would personally keep the 3.55's in the car, and participate in many summer races...
You could slightly increase the boost and trap out at 6009RPM.... Thats perfect...

3.73
1/8th mile trap speed at 100MPH = 4820rpm
131mph end of race trap speed = 6314rpm...
So it looks like the 3.73 is the best for the GT's as well.. This allows you to trap out at only 100rpm above factory redline.. At the 1/8th marker, it places you much closer to the sweet spot of the turbo spool as well... So I would say a good all purpose gear for the GT would be 3.73's..

Since I have an auto tranny, there are two things in my favor: (1) the rev limiter is only an issue during burnouts... my transmission never misses a gear and is set right now to shift at 6250rpm, and (2) since I can't launch at much over 2200-2400 rpms, I'm thinking the 275/40-17 drag radials will bite OK. If not, then I might switch to the 275/50-17s.

That all depends on which power adder you use and how much power you add. 4.10's have been very, very good to me. If you keep your rwhp at or below 430 (which you should limit yourself to with a stock rotating assy.) there shouldn't be any problems. My highest trap speed was 116.6 at 6200 RPM's.

One other thing... well over 95% of my drag racing is done on 1/8-mi tracks (just because that is what I have available locally). So, other than a couple times a year, my trap speed will be well under 100 (more like 90-something).
