By reading the forum it seems alot of you guys use a tuner to improve performance. I have to admit I don't consider myself a car expert at all but how hard is it to do? Thinking about a CAI also. Can you really mess up the car if you don't know what you are doing? I really don't know anyone who has used a tuner to fall back on if i have a problem?

If you're thinking about a CAI and tuner combo, let me ask you these questions:

1 - Can you use a screwdriver and a wrench?
2 - Can you plug something into an outlet?
3 - Can you hit an enter key?

If yes to all 3, you're good to go.

Also, if you do have trouble, guys like Doug at Bamachips are usually just a phone call away if you need help.

Edit: Oh yeah, Welcome to the site

Welcome too. If you can't find the information about Mustangs you need here, then it probably can't be found.

Hey Ken,

I was in the same boat as you. I have learned so much from the guys and gals in here. Everyone is very helpful and friendly. Whatever you are looking for will be found here. Use the search function. I'll just about guarantee you will find the answer to your questions without even having to post yourself. If you can't find what you are looking for than post away. People will respond. Welcome to the site!!!!!!

oh yeah, in reference to your question..........a cai and tune are extremely easy to do. You will love the results. I personally have Alternative Auto's tune from Lidio (do a search, you will learn a lot about them) I have heard great things about Bamachips as well. You might also look at Brenspeed, or if you have a shop nearby, see if they can give you a custom tune.

Dude, YOU personally don't tune your car. You buy a preset tune from a professional tuner, then load it onto you car. You can't really mess things up, ya dig?

The only manual adjustments you should have to make is for different sized wheels and maybe idle speed. You can do shift points too. Any dummy can do those things. With the prevalence of companies out there who spend hours upon hours on perfecting tunes for your exact car, you shouldn't, nay, you don't have to do a thing. Leave A/F and timing up to the big boys with dynos and years of experience.
