tuner problem

i will withhold the name of the tuner, till he responds.

waited home today for the ups man.... read the directions ( i have used a predator before but not the brand i received, so i am aware of how these work ) plugged it in, everything went as it should, unplugged, started the car and it idles like crap-ola, searches around, and the "wrench" light is on, went for a ride and well, yea, whatever. i "thought" that the drive by wire would have improved, but it hasnt, worse than with the factory tune. so i restored the car back to stock.

i will update this when i get a response.

Bamachips huh?

Did you try to call or PM Doug? Try calling if you haven't already. Did you install just a tune, or a cold air kit too?

Why assume it's Bamachips? Why couldn't it be Brenspeed, Tillman, etc. etc...

I'm only guessing that it's Bamachips because the OP said "he"....... there's not too many one man operations that supply high quality tunes. I am not turning this into a tuner-bashing thread, if it becomes that way I will delete the thread. I am only trying to help the OP, because if indeed it is 'Bama then he should try calling direct.

And I will add, that Doug has KILLER tunes. I'm sure it's a simple problem that will be addressed properly.

Excuse me for asking, but why would you get a tune before a CAI.
CAIs are so cheap compared to a tune.
Is it possible that the tune is for a CAI car because that is the norm?
That would be a very simple mistake to make.
Is it an SCT 2 or 3?

+1 maybe your tuner assumed you were getting a tune for a cai. Like Tom said, just give em' (whoever it is) a jingle.

If given a choice between a tuner with a tune and CAI, I would take the tuner/tune. Most CAIs require a tune anyway. With just the email tune from Bamachips, VMP or Brenspeed, you can add anywhere from 8-15 hp. Besides with the tuner you can make various adjustments. It could have been a mistake, but if the OP didn't list a CAI under his mods than the tuner wouldn't have tuned it for a CAI. If the OP plugs his preator in and selects custom tune, it should just read the octane tune i.e., 87, 91. If it has the octane tune plus an intake name i.e., C&L, BBK, JLT, then the wrong tune was sent.

I'm sure glad I picked up the FRRP Bullitt CAI from a dealer today instead of a tune from Bama or others with the OEM Bullitt parts from Clevenger.

Do you also have a tuner or are you just using a CAI? If you just have the CAI, your cars Air/Fuel will be off and your check engine light will come on. You could possible cause some harm to your engine. If you have the FRPP tuner. I don't know much about it, but I have read the tunes are not nearly as good as Bamachips or Brenspeed.

See if reloading the tune works. Perhaps it did not load correctly the 1st time.
If no luck, then either the tune may be corrupt, or it may be the incorrect one for your vehicle. It happens.

Why the procal and not the SCT or Predator? Not sure what the procal will do, but with SCT and Predator you can adjust your gear ratio if you decide to get gears. You can also adjust your revs. per mile if you get a different tire size. This is just two examples. They both can do a lot more. In addition if you do get one of these tuners from Brenspeed or Bamachips and add per.mods, they will update your tune for free.

because, it makes the most sense. a cai cant be run without a tune, a tune changes more stuff than just airflow calibration....it changes the drive by wire, which is where most of the seat of the pants feel will come into play. so since you asked......i want to ask why would you get a CAI before getting a tuner? CAI's cant even be used without a tune, so the CAI just sits on the shelf. what makes more sense?

yeah there are CAI's that can be used without a tune.....with restrictors in the air flow path, so really what benefit is there? open up the filter area, then restrict it right after?????

the company, tuner, they, him, her, has contacted me and we are working on it.
