Tuner and mods question

Do most people have good luck with the "email" tunes? I ask because I have an 07 GT that felt sluggish compared to the 04 Mach 1 I had before so I did a K&N CAI, long tube headers, and cat backs to pep it up. I bought a tuner from brenspeed that was supposed to be tuned and my car runs no different with any of the three tunes. If anything its worse and the check engine light stays on for the headers. Are you guys really getting a seat of your pants improvement with these mods? My car is what I would call slow. A bone stock 09 GT pulled about 6 lengths on me from 55-130 the other day, and my neighbors Grand Am GXP can smoke my car. I know my old Mach 1 could take the GXP so are these S197 cars that slow or is mine just weak and my tune crap?

your tune sounds messed up man. Longtubes, cai, and a tune---you should be moving man....

The 09 is the same motor as your 07....if he is stock and you have all this work done you should pull on him, not the other way around.

I've been figuring the tune sucks. I know this car isn't a beast power wise, but I expected more from it than its giving me. I guess I need to break down and have it properly dyno tuned, unless this is just a fluke and email tunes typically work.

I would call brenspeed before I did anything ... A dyno tune is always going to be better than a mail order tune , since it'll know exactly how your particular car is responding. I live by Steeda and BBR and I've always had dyno tunes , so I have no first hand knowledge of a mail order tune. But I've read a lot of posts on here by people who do use mail order tunes by brenspeed , AM and etc , and most post are positive about the tunes ...

I spoke with brenspeed, the said they would do a revision to turn off the check engine light. They said the performance might be a dirty throttle body. I guess that can be an issue with 36000 miles. I guess my biggest question is how should this car compare to an 03-04 Mach 1 with similar mods, because my old car was a lot faster.

If I remember correctly , the Mach 1 is a 4 valve , so all other things being equal it would have you by a little. Like I said I've never run a mail order tune , but most of the posts I read by people who do say there is a noticeable difference between the performance tune and the stock one. Maybe somethings not quite right with the tune and when they send you a new one for the CEL it will be better. Good luck ...

Your throttle body should have been cleaned before you put the tune on it. I suggest you turn off check engine light, return to stock, pull throttle body and clean it, put your tune back on and try it. That would be my first attempt at resolve.
